Desired Competencies

    Monitoring and Reporting

  • The researcher/microbiologist will report to the food safety research team leader

  • The researcher/microbiologist will be base at Food Science and Nutrition Research Directorate, Food safety research case team

    Accountability

  • Both the Civil service and EPHI Human Resource Development rules and regulations will be applied to guide the day to day services.

    Job Summary

  • Work with Food Science and Nutrition Research Directorate, Food safety research case team, management officers performs researches on food safety to Ensure National Food safety and quality system, develop and strengthen national food safety surveillance and laboratory system and Provide research evidence on food safety for policy input.

    Job Description (Main Duties and responsibilities)

  • Participate in the preparation of research priorities.

  • On the basis of research priorities, will prepare research project proposals with the necessary implementation
    schedules.

  • Collect and unpackaged information on relevant newly emerging health technologies appropriate for our conditions and design strategies in collaboration with others, on how to adapt/adopt these imported technologies.

  • Supervise and guide Junior Researchers and Technicians.

  • Participate in EPHI consultancy work on national health and nutritional problems.

  • Advising graduate students from inception to completion of their thesis, whenever such opportunities exist.

  • Participate in the preparation of the Institute’s annual technical report, newsletter and laboratory manuals.

  • Involve in various technical committees within and outside the Institute, whenever the EPHI calls upon such participation

  • Prepare progress performance report.

    Job Requirements

    •Bachelor degree in medical laboratory, Master’s degree in medical microbiology or related discipline from a recognized academic institution.

    •Training in research methodology, quality management system, public health systems or related health trainings are an advantage.

    Experiences

  • 4 years in medical laboratory

  • 0 year for Master’s degree

  • have experience microbiology laboratory an

  • Have research work with published articles as first author in peer reviewed scientific journals. Hands on experience in designing research tools, training, and supervising research teams; preferably in research institutions is an asset.
