  • The position of PHEOC Technical Assistant consists of supporting the activities of the PHEOC at the national and regional level.

  • The responsibilities includes: improving the national PHEOC facilities and functions, supporting establishment and strengthening of the regional PHEOC and developing and revising plans and other PHEOC working documents such as plans, procedures and guidelines and training the public health professional on the concept of EOCs and Incident Management Structures.

    Duties and Responsibilities of PHEOC Technical Assistance

  • Develop the PHEOC guidelines, plans and standard operating procedures

  • Support the PHEOC functions during activation

  • Prepare the training materials

  • Provide PHEOC trainings for the public health cadres

  • Conduct supportive supervision and technical assistance to the PHEOC and lower level PHEOC

  • Collect, analyze and interpret public health related data

  • Prepare daily/weekly/monthly/quarter and annual performance reports and technical assessment and scientific reports

  • Identify areas to improve, implement measures that improve PHEOC functions and achieved the intended objectives.

  • Appropriately handle and document the public health emergency emergencies/events related data’s, report and working documents

  • Set clear performance expectations with team and communicate successfully how performance goals are linked to EPHI goals.

  • Insure implementation of the PHEOC policies, operations and performance standards were understood and followed by agents.

  • Troubleshooting any operational problems related to the PHEOC.

    Job Requirements

    Education Qualification requirement

  • MPH in Field Epidemiology or General Public Health Master

    Required Skill & Experience

  • 6(six) years and above Public health emergency management(PHEM) or in similar role is required.

  • Basic PHEOC training is mandatorily
    required, intermediate and advance PHEOC training is highly preferable

  • Excellent training facilitation skill

  • Good computer skills

  • Supervisory or leadership experience in a public health emergency management is preferable

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

  • Organized, able to prioritize and work independently

    Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Good leadership and managerial skills.

  • Must have good communication (written and verbal), interpersonal and active listening skills

  • Have excellent problem solving and negotiation skills.

  • Good organizational skills are essential.

  • Good computer skills and knowledge of basic technology to be used in the PHEOC and public health emergency response.

  • Must have strong analytical skills.
