  • Ethiopian Public Health institute needs to employ in the following positions on contract bases.

  • Joining the COVID-19 response, World Bank and MOH have been supporting emergency response for the Regional and National Emergency operational Centre (EOC) to enhance the impact, reach and efficiency of responses through the integration and coordination of risk communication, Surveillance, case management, mental health, special need, Point of entry, logistics & EOC activities and approaches in strong collaboration with the health team, IM, and under the guidance of EOC each pillar chief.

  • COVID-19 infection and maintaining the continuum of essential services of EOC through strengthening coordination and technical support at the national and regional level by deployment of technical assistance (TA).

  • EPHI will deploy TAs who will be supporting the Federal Ministry of health/Ethiopian Public Health Institute at national level and regional level at region EOC.

  • The TAs also will link with the Regional Health Bureau Country office and regional office staffs, and their respective Regional health bureaus and to regularly update on the regional level response and gaps in the areas of COVID-19, as per assigned and provide information and technical support when necessary.

    Job description

  • Conduct MHPSS needs assessments among the affected populations, in line with EPHI guidelines and WHO MHPSS assessment toolkit.

  • Coordinates with NPHEOC and RHBs on MHPSS training related to COVID response.

  • Facilitate and support with the development of MHPSS overall programming including materials and tools.

  • Support mental health and protection case management and psychosocial support to vulnerable individuals and families and complete appropriate case documentation.

  • Train other psychosocial service providers in case management and PFA for those who are working in the COVID response centers.

  • In collaboration with EPHI-EOC and RHBs lead the development of appropriate IEC materials on MHPSS to build awareness of services and promote key messages.

  • Review assessment and other relevant project documents as well as relevant guidance about responding to MHPSS under Covid-19 restrictions.

  • Provide technical input to on the MHPSS intervention to maximize efficacy and incorporation of do no harm principles when launching an intervention online.

  • Develop recommendations for the intervention design and implementation based on
    population needs.

  • Provide input on development of tools to monitor and evaluate the MHPSS and implementation of at the EPHI-EOC and RHBs.

  • Provide technical guidance to EPHI and RHBs staffs and partners during COVID-19 response.

  • Provide input on final evaluation and packaging of MHPSS.

  • Document and produce report on lesson learnt in process of COVID-19 response.

  • Develop a summary report providing evidence generation regarding MHPSS design and implementation based on review of documents, assessment and guidance during Covid-19.

  • Provide weekly and monthly status updates to include summary of any reflections, highlights or concerns and level of effort.

  • Create final report including the success and challenge analysis and recommendations regarding MHPSS.

    Job Requirements

    Education Level

  • Medical Doctoror MSc in Clinical Psychology / in mental health.

    Work experience

  • Four years for relevant work experience Medical Doctoror MSc /Six years for BSCin Psychiatry Nurse.

    Personal skills required

  • Psychology or social work.

  • With expertise and experience Mental Health and Psycho Social Support field

  • Have a good modulation of voice and confidence in communicating in public

  • Work as team player and has flexibility in his/her work

  • He/she can work independently and innovatively to develop and implement supervision and training activities that help expand community participation

  • Experience working in humanitarian emergency settings is an asset
