Job Description

Under the direct supervision and technical support of Regional guinea worm coordinator;

Animal health officer will perform animal guinea worm surveillance, active case search, outbreak investigation, rumor verification and other related activities.

Roles and responsibilities

Conduct animal surveillance and response activities

Strength animal health surveillance through community based Village based volunteers (VBV)

Conduct active case search for guinea worm disease

Monitor the health of domestic animals (dogs and cats) including proactively tethered animals and provide suitable treatment

Supervise and carryout animal health activities

Conduct supportive supervision at each respective villages and kebeles

Facilitate and conduct dog census biannually in hot spot areas

Ensure tethering of all legible dogs and cats in high risk areas

Ensure the tethering of all suspected dogs/animals getting food and medical care as needed

Working under stress condition with additional extra time accordingly

Prepare monthly and weekly report and submit to Woreda health office and Guinea worm regional coordinator

Ensure that every animals welfare under the program are kept well

Job Requirements

BSc in Animal health science with a minimum of four (4)years’ working experience.
