Job Description

Ethiopian Catholic Church Social Development Commission Coordinating Branch office of Meki (ECC-SDCBOM) is a faith-based Non-Governmental Organization having Social Development activities in the Vicariate of Meki.

The Social Development activities are carried out under the Social and Development Commission Branch Office. The office has secured financial support from AECID and Caritas Spain to implement a Project entitled Food Security and Rural Development III (FSRD III) project in Arsi Nagele,Heben Arsi, Shala Siraro, Wondo, Shahsemene and Kore Woredas of West Arsi Zone from April 2019.

Ethiopian Catholic Church Social & Development Commission Branch Office of Meki needs to employ personnel on the following Job areas.

Purpose of the Position:

The Marketing expert, working under the immediate supervision of FSRD III Project Manager is responsible for Planning, coordinating, directing, monitoring and reporting of Cooperative activities.

He/ She will liaison implementation of project activities at woreda and kebeles levels with woreda line office experts, DAs and Lead Community Facilitators.

The incumbent is responsible to provide technical support for Lead Community Facilitators, Cooperative Management Committees and woreda experts to achieve implementation of project activities at woreda and kebeles levels.

Key /Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate and conduct market study and assist preparation of yearly Business plan for beneficiary MPSCs in collaboration with woreda CPOs
  • Facilitate market linkages between cooperatives, their union and other corporate grain buyers
  • Facilitate consumer goods need assessment and group procurement through their union for beneficiary service cooperatives
  • Supervision of beneficiary MPSCs marketing, shopping, and cooperatives management activities on quarterly basis,
  • Organize awareness building campaign for primary cooperatives members on cooperative principles and functioning in collaboration woredas CPOs
  • Facilitate equipping, furnishing and supply of support documents beneficiary service cooperatives at project intervention areas.
  • Facilitation and provision of training for personnel and management committees members of the MP cooperative union, Service Cooperatives, kebele level Cooperatives and Government staffs on Cooperatives Management, Business plan preparation, Grain marketing, store management techniques, shop keeping and grain quality testing in collaboration with CPOs
  • Facilitate and conduct discussion with Zone and woreda Cooperative Promotion Office on organizing MPSCs
  • Supervise and provide technical support to project LCF
  • Prepare and submit quarterly, annual and terminal project reports timely
  • Document all required data and information in both hard copy and soft copy.
  • Prepare reporting and data collection templates for LCFs and collect from them regularly.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Project Manager

    Coordination

  • Coordinates
    the implementation of the project activity in line with the objectives of the project
  • Organize and facilitate training sessions for cooperative committee, Union staff and committee, woreda expert, LCF and targeted communities
  • Participates in key stakeholders joint planning and collaboration events
  • Represent project on external working groups in the woreda when relevant and ensure the project has appropriate visibility.
  • Ensure that the Projects team leads to provide accurate information, in an appropriate format for ECC-SDCBOM Branch Office and Government monitoring systems
  • Proactively engage with woreda level project staff to share knowledge and to identify best practice in the ECC-SDCBOM project intervention areas.

    Communication and representation

  • Creates a better working relation, networking, and partnership with MPSCs committee local community and concerned Woreda government institutions
  • Liaise with local authorities, Union, partner organizations, NGOs, government bodies on activities related to project activities
  • Performs other related activities as assigned by immediate supervisor

    Reporting and documentation

  • Review and compile monthly, quarterly and annual/biannual project cooperative activity report to the Project Manager on the 25th of the reporting month
  • Makes available any necessary documentation at the Office and provides to project Manager when required
  • Ensure that all donor requirements are met, including timely preparation of Project cooperative reports
  • Ensure adequate filing system is maintained for projects at Woreda office level;
  • Ensure that all donor, ECC-SDCCOM and government requirements are met

    Job Requirements

    Minimum Qualification Requirements:
    Education
  • BA in Cooperative Marketing Management, Cooperative Business Management, Cooperative Auditing, Economics, or other relevant fields of study

    Experience:

  • Minimum of three year NGO work Experience in the area of Cooperative Marketing Management
