Job Summary

  • S/he will prepare accurate and timely financial statements and documents using the format and policies by the funder organization.

  • S/he is responsible for performing balance sheet, revenue, expense, and payroll account reconciliations, as well as executing accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.

  • Senior Accountants provide leadership for staff by teaching them how to complete complex financial operations.

  • S/he will analyze financial statements for discrepancies.

    Duties and Responsibilities

  • Collecting, preparing, and interpreting reports, budgets, accounts, commentaries, and financial statements

  • Collect all receipts and financial documents clearly and neatly

  • Undertaking strategic analysis and assisting with strategic planning

  • Producing long-term business plans

  • Undertaking research into pricing, competitors, and factors affecting performance

  • Controlling income, cash flow, and expenditures

  • Managing budgets and informing the management progress on a weekly basis

  • Developing and managing financial systems/models

  • Carrying out business modeling and risk assessments

  • Liaising with managerial staff and work directly with IMS finance and Dereja team

  • To carry out any other duties and/or responsibilities assigned by the supervisor

  • To be accountable, give
    feedback and appropriate information regarding the requested or ongoing tasks

    Job Requirements

  • Strong understanding of IFRS and accounting theory.

  • Highly detail-oriented and organized at work.

  • To be flexible as required.

  • Knowledge of tax laws.

  • Ability to meet assigned deadlines.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with other agencies.

  • Ability to act and operate independently with minimal daily direction from supervisor to accomplish objectives.

  • Ability to work on QuickBooks or similar accounting packages.

  • English language speaking and writing skills.

  • Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees, management, and external agencies to maximize performance, creativity, problem-solving, and results.

  • Excellent English is written and oral communication, as well as basic computer skills

  • Excellent presentation skills

  • Basic problem-solving and critical thinking abilities

  • Able to perform in a tight schedule

  • Ability to lead and work with a team

  • Ability to follow up

  • Takes initiative, responsible, good time management and organization skills

  • Flexibility and tolerance

    Education and Experience

  • BA in Accounting/ Finance

  • 2-5 years of experience working in Accounting and Finance in a Non-government organization
