Summary

  • Working with and reporting to Sales and Marketing Director, the marketing officer is responsible to build the image and profitability of EthioChicken, in accordance with company objectives, through planning, budgeting and implementing relevant marketing activities.

  • The Ideal candidate plays a key role to ensure EthioChicken brand, culture and uniqueness is clearly articulated, communicated, understood and consistent across all activities, clients through brand engagement and promotion activities.

  • Act with authority in order to develop both internal and external relations in order to leverage all opportunities in building EthioChicken brand equity.

  • The post involves extensive national travel.

    Key Responsibilities

  • Develop a national strategy that will build strong brand that is fit for purpose and will support EthioChicken business objectives.

  • Develop and implement a brand research, tracking program that will monitor the brand and build an understanding of brand perception.

  • Make informed decisions on brand development, support new brand activities, ensure the brand values and culture are reflected accurately.

  • Liaising with legal and compliance advisor, to ensure the brand collateral is registered for trademark and intellectual property rights where necessary and that this value is understood.

  • Implement the brand guidelines – making sure they are followed and adapted appropriately.

  • Plan and monitor the Advertising and Promotion (A&P) budget and spends on the brand to maximize brand profitability.

  • Develop ideas and work with the sales & operations team, and exclusive agents to ensure the brand maximize potential in all sites and agent network to develop plans where necessary.

  • Define the communications & media strategy, brief agencies, and follow up the implementation. Analyze the results of the strategy and report results to appropriate parties.

  • Respond to and follow up inquiries from sales team, grants and impact officer, operations finance, and HR Team.

  • Monitor and report on activities to immediate supervisor and senior leadership team (SLT), and provide relevant information for strategic decisions.

  • Work in close coordination with Regional Sales Managers and other members of Marketing department.

  • Build relationships with different internal departments and report on a monthly and ad-hoc basis.

  • Promote and embed the Ethiochicken brand among companywide to enhance our culture and essence

  • Develop and execute marketing communications strategy and integrated brand marketing communications plan in supporting overall brand strategy.

  • Ensure marketing communications plans include internal and external customers through strong stakeholder planning.

  • Monitor customer
    and consumer reactions to brand through focus groups and market research ensuring it feeds into brand communication planning.

  • Oversee the production of marketing products through a variety of channels which may include TV, Radio, newspaper, magazine advertisements, email or on-line campaigns and road shows.

  • Be responsible for selecting, managing and maintaining good working relationship with 3rd party marketing products suppliers as necessary.

  • Be responsible for and closely monitor the quality of marketing communications produced and creative execution of the brand.

  • Carry out all administrative duties relevant to this role.

  • Perform any other duties assigned by immediate supervisor and SLT members.

    Job Requirements

    Required Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years of direct experience in the relevant sector after undergraduate degree in Marketing and related field.

  • Practical experience of brand management campaigns preferably to rural audience.

  • Experience of success in using different marketing channels to build a brand.

  • Experience in consumer research and using this to drive the implementation of the brand.

  • Experience in briefing and working with external suppliers/ advertising agency and stakeholders.

  • Experience of engaging all stakeholders in change behavior change toward marketing communications.

  • Ability to work within matrix organizations and influence management buy-in, decision-making.

    Required Skills

  • A good working knowledge on marketing principles, particularly to support the building and promotion of the brand

  • Good analytical skills of brands, market research and market trends

  • Good knowledge of different media channels for different audiences

  • Numerate and able to manage budgets and to analyze financial data

  • Demonstrate ability to motivate self and staffs across the organization and secure the co-operation and involvement of key internal and external stake holders

  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills, confident at responding directly to individual queries

  • Competent with MS Office, particularly Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and other applications
