Who We Are Looking For?

  • We are looking for a highly motivated and self-driven professional to join our growing Risk Consulting business. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing Enterprise Risk Management, Financial Services Risk Management and Internal audit services in EY Uganda.

  • The ideal candidate for this position will build valued relationships with external clients and internal peers and develop a portfolio of business by focusing on high impact opportunities. They will lead presentations and proposals for moderately complex projects – or elements of highly complex projects and provide subject matter insight to bids and proposals. Management and Boards of Directors rely heavily on our Risk Consulting Business to provide important proactive assessments and assurance around the effectiveness of controls and company processes, while also providing objective advisory support.

  • As a Risk Consulting professional, you will be leading engagements to identify control enhancements, operational and compliance process improvement and efficiency opportunities, as well as company-wide cost improvements. You will actively contribute to improving operational efficiency on projects and internal initiatives, consistently drive projects to completion and confirm that work delivered is of a high quality. Under guidance you’ll lead teams – or parts of teams – on engagements. You’ll maintain a clear focus on anticipating and identifying risks and escalate issues as appropriate. As an influential member of the team, you’ll help to create a positive learning culture, coach and counsel junior team members and help them to develop.

  • You will be expected to serve clients across the financial services, consumer products, government and public sector. You will therefore be expected to demonstrate cross sector experience including a good understanding of Enterprise Risk Management, Financial Services Risk Management and Internal audit.

    Senior Manager Risk Management (1 position)

    Client Responsibilities:

  • Help manage financial aspects of engagements by organizing staffing, tracking fees and communicating issues to project leaders

  • Participate in business development initiatives including developing local thought leadership

  • Assist with workshops and facilitation

  • Assist with complex problem solving of client issues

  • Build strong internal relationships within EY Consulting Services and with other services across the Organization

  • Help build and train a strong risk consulting team

    People Responsibilities:

  • Develop people through effectively supervising, coaching and mentoring staff

  • Conduct performance reviews and contribute to performance feedback for staff

  • Contribute to people initiatives including recruiting, retaining and training Risk professionals

  • Contribute to an educational program to continually develop interpersonal and technical skills of staff

  • Understand and follow workplace policies and procedures

    Qualifications and Skills

  • A minimum of 10 years of work experience with at least 5 years as an Internal Auditor or Risk Management Consultant.

  • A Bachelor or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Science or Business Administration from a reputable institution

  • Professional Qualifications CPA (or ACCA), CIA, CISA

  • Must have Management Consulting experience.

  • Must have knowledge and working experience of the Uganda market.

  • Working knowledge of GRC systems.

  • Working knowledge of control and risk management frameworks.

  • Must have strong capability and experience of leading multiple clients and multiple teams.

  • Strong skills in project management and engagement closure.

  • Experience of/and interest in recruiting and professional development.

  • Knowledge in customer engagement with understanding of leading practices and industry challenges.

  • Strong analytical thinking, problem solving, presentation and communication skills.

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral English.

  • Execution focused and proven ability to get things done.

  • Familiar with Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint etc).
