Equity Group Foundation (EGF) is a non-profit implementing foundation set up in 2008 as the social impact investments arm of Equity Group Holdings. EGF aims to transform the lives and livelihoods of the people of Africa socially and economically by equipping them, capacity building and linking them to modern, inclusive financial services that maximize their opportunities.

EGF drives impact through the development and implementation of innovative programs that build on existing infrastructure – physical and human capital – within the wider Equity Group to connect partners to the bottom of the pyramid.

Equity Bank Tanzania Ltd (EBTL) is a registered and licensed commercial Bank in Tanzania which has been in operation since 2012. The Bank has been actively supporting farmers and particularly small holder farmers, health related projects, education sector, manufacturing industries, retail traders and with a focus on Micro and Small Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) towards socio- economic transformation of people’s lives.

The Bank’s strategic focus is hinged on growing agribusiness portfolio to reach at least 35% by 2025. EBTL has a network of 15 branches located in Arusha, Dar es Salaam, Mbeya, Dodoma, Kilimanjaro, Mwanza, Morogoro, Kahama, Zanzibar, among other towns and location in Tanzania.

EGF & EBTL are partnering to roll out social impact programs in Tanzania. This role shall be responsible for coordinating these programs to ensure effective and efficient execution of highly impactful programs within budget and within agreed timelines.

They will be responsible for supporting the development & driving execution of targeted pillar programs, initiatives, and activities.

The successful individual will be tasked with assisting the Head, Public Sector Banking in Tanzania & EGF Pillar Heads to develop programs that will support the strategic direction of EGF/ MIF partnership, as well as actively contributing to creation and management of ongoing & longer -term goals of EBTL in social impact.

Additionally, the Programs coordinator will ensure alignment of MIF and EGF programs to national priorities in Tanzania and will support the development of budgets and operating plans for joint MIF/ EGF programs as well as originating program funding proposals.

The Programs coordinator will oversee the roll- out of Social Imaoct programs aligned to EGF’s 6 pillars (Enterprise Development & Financial Inclusion; Food & Agriculture; Energy, Environment & Climate Change; Health; Education & Leadership Development & Social Protection) as well as MIF’s main focus areas.

Responsibilities

The Programs Coordinator shall directly oversee the roll out and performance of EGF & MIF programs in Tanzania.

They shall:

  • Work under the guidance of the Head of Programs, Mwanamke Initiatives Foundation, & EGF.

  • Coordinate social impact programs to ensure effective and efficient execution.

  • Support the development & execution of targeted pillar programs, initiatives, and activities.

  • Assist the Head, Public Sector Banking in Tanzania & EGF Pillar
    Heads to develop programs that will support the strategic direction of EGF/ MIF partnership, as well as actively contributing to creation and management of ongoing & longer -term goals of EBTL in social impact.

  • Ensure alignment of MIF and EGF programs to national priorities in Tanzania

  • Support the origination & development of budgets and operating plans for joint MIF/ EGF programs.

  • Originate relevant program funding proposals.

  • Oversee the roll- out of Social Impact programs aligned to EGF’s 6 pillars as well as MIF’s focus areas.

  • Support procurement to onboard suitable project assistants and contributors/ coordinators.

  • Support the identification and training of key staff to be recruited by MIF to support incoming programs.

  • Work with MIF teams to ensure that projects are delivered timely and on budget.

  • Actively contribute to the development of new programs to support the strategic direction of MIF & EGF on their partnership towards social impact in Tanzania.

  • Refine and drive to fruition identified & priority program funding proposals.

  • Contribute to development of an effective regional strategy for EGF & MIF partnership

  • Support capacity building to develop a team to manage MIF & EGF partnership affairs.

  • Engage in high level liaison & relationship management of various stakeholders and partners including donors, beneficiaries, customers, EGH, EGF, EBTL, government, regulators, partners, key industry players etc for Tanzania

  • Support stakekeholder and engagement & sensitization in Tanzania for overall scaleand impact of MIF and EGF programs

    Key Deliverables for this Position

  • Successful roll delivery and roll out of MIF/EGF Partnership activities in Tanzania – Number of engagement sessions, Number of partners onboarded, program funding.

  • Reputable, sustainable partnership between EGF & MIF in Tanzania.

  • Exceptional Stakeholder Experience on partnership execution.

  • Regulatory & Compliance – Facilitating strict compliance to statutory & regulatory norms of process/operational adherence as is required in Tanzania.

    Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Economics or Commerce, Business Studies, Finance, Social Sciences including Development Studies, Agriculture, Agronomy, Enterpreneurship, International Studies etc.

  • Masters degree in any of the above areas desirable.

  • Qualifications and /or experience in Project management is an added asset.

  • PhD presents an added advantage.

    Other Desirable Experience / Competencies

  • Highly proficient in Kiswahili with excellent capacity to articulate key issues in Kiswahili.

  • A track record of high performance & timely execution.
