About Us

Founded in 1992, Equality Now is an international human rights organization that works to protect and promote the rights of all women and girls around the world. Our campaigns are centered on four program areas: Legal Equality, End Sexual Violence, End Harmful Practices, and End Sexual Exploitation, with a cross-cutting focus on the unique needs of adolescent girls.

Equality Now combines grassroots activism with international, regional, and national legal advocacy to achieve legal and systemic change to benefit all women and girls and works to ensure that governments enact and enforce laws and policies that uphold their rights. Equality Now is a global organization with partners and members all around the world.

You’ll find our 70+ team across the world in places such as Benin, Beirut, London, Geneva, San Jose, New York, Nairobi, Tbilisi, Washington DC among others. For more information, visit equalitynow.org

The organization had an ambitious 2022-24 strategic plan which resulted in enhanced presence and work in MENA, Eurasia, and LAC regions. In 2020, in response to the pandemic, we restructured the organization to become a dispersed organization. Priorities include expanding programs in MENA, the Americas, and Eurasia as well as capacity building with an emphasis on development and communications activities.

Equality Now's media advocacy and communications strategy plays a pivotal role in our mission to advance the rights of women and girls around the world. For us, media and social media are key to increasing public understanding and building support for our campaign issues amongst target audiences; holding governments, policymakers and other duty bearers to account; amplifying the voices of women and girls, and the partners we collaborate with around the world; and position Equality Now as a go-to expert on women’s rights;
