Engineers Board of Kenya Jobs-Internal Auditor Manager


Purpose:

The job holder will be responsible for the development and review of the Board’s audit policies, procedures, internal control systems and ensuring comprehensive audits and reporting are ndertaken.
The job holder will work closely with the Board’s audit committee in executing its oversight responsibilities and duties and ensure any audit queries and potential risks are addressed in a timely and effective manner.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Development and review of audit policies, procedures, internal control systems and strategies,;
  • Plan and coordinate comprehensive internal audits for the Board;
  • Develop risk and compliance management systems and processes;
  • Responsible for systematic and objective audit reviews and programmatic evaluations of the Board’s policies, systems, processes and practices;
  • Coordinate and collaborate with external auditors and help the Board in addressing the audit issues that may arise;
  • Setting up and coordinating the activities of the ethics and anticorruption organ of the Board;
  • Train staff on ethics and anti-corruption initiatives and programs;
  • Provide independent and objective assessment of internal controls and governance process;
  • Report and communicate audit findings to the management and to the Board’s audit committee;
  • Develop and implement annual audit plans for the Board and Institute follow up audits to ensure implementation of the recommendations;

    Qualifications

    The ideal candidate should have the following academic and professional qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines: Commerce (Accounting/Finance), Finance, Business Administration or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
  • Be a Certified Public Accountant (CPA-K);
  • A member of Certified Internal Auditors of Kenya (CIAK);
  • Master’s Degree in Business Administration/Commerce in Accounting or Finance will be an added advantage;

    Minimum Professional Experience

    The ideal candidate must have the following minimum professional experience:
  • At least five (5) years of auditing experience in a senior position as an auditor in the public or private sector;

    Skills and Personal Attributes

    The ideal candidate should have the following skills and
    personal attributes:
  • Have IT skills and knowledge of Computer Aided Audit Techniques will be added advantage;
  • Demonstrable understanding of the principles and application of good corporate governance, business and operational risk and control processes and procedures;
  • Excellent analytical and report-writing skills;
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills with the ability to prioritize, multitask and work under pressure amidst competing demands;
  • Meet the requirement of Chapter Six of the constitution on leadership and integrity;
  • Team player;
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Highly motivated.

  • Clearance certificate from the Higher Education Loans Board;
  • Tax Compliance certificate from the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) ;
  • Clearance certificate from the Ethic and Anti- Corruption Commission (EACC);
  • Clearance Certificate from a Credit Reference Bureau.
