Internship Period: 11 Months

Purpose of the Job

  • To provide strategic advice and support on corporate strategy matters to the Director and the rest of the Department team in planning, organizing and coordinating the activities of the Department.

    Key Responsibilities for the Position

    1. Participate in corporate strategy development and its subsequent monitoring, updating and refinement in line with sustainable lending and resource options;
    2. Contribute to the preparation of the Annual Strategy Review for senior management, including preparation of the mid-term and periodical review, special updates and reports;
    3. Contribute to the preparation of Board documents on selected process enhancement recommendations;
    4. Ensure that all new policy proposals and strategic initiatives are aligned with the Corporation’s planning directions and strategy, including the High 5s and the TYS 2013-2022;
    5. Participate as required in the Strategy and policy development work;
    6. Provide support to the office of the Director as required, in particular on recent policy developments, and on the Directorate response to emerging international issues;
    7. Prepare as requested, planning and strategy documents; represent the department as requested at key policy decisions, institutional reforms and initiatives.
    8. Assist directors to formulate their work programmes driven by planning and strategy;
    9. Provide, as requested, up-to-date research on environment and business trends and
    keep updated on new ways of doing strategic planning itself;
    10. Serve as a focal point and spokesperson, as requested, on strategy issues to internal and external constituencies and expert strategy groups.

    • Impeccable skills in Microsoft office packages (Excel, Word, PowerPoint etc).
    • Effective verbal and written communication abilities.
    • Ability to manage time effectively in a high-pressure setting.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills.
    • Good analytical skills.
    • Critical-thinking and assertiveness abilities.
    • Detail-oriented personality.
    • Ability to operate effectively independently and as part of a team.

    Minimum Qualifications and Experience

    • The ideal candidate must have a minimum qualification of a first Degree in economics, macroeconomics or development economics, finance, engineering, strategic management or related fields.
    • Those with 5 years of relevant experience shall have an added advantage;
