Internship Period: 11 Months
Purpose of the Job
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES FOR THE POSITION
1. Establish and maintain strategic Geographical Information System (GIS) that is aligned to the asset monitoring strategy and goals.
2. Evaluate the Geographical Information System (GIS) and related business processes continuously and launch interventions to optimize efficiencies.
3. Advise management on asset management risks, safeguard the distribution network asset inventory and from time to time, update the GIS database.
4. Facilitate organizational change through the implementation of Geographical Information System (GIS) methodology.
5. Evaluate the electricity distribution system continuously and advise on interventions to optimize its utilization and expansion in line with Licensee goal of growing the transmission assets.
6. Prepare monthly and annual reports on the distribution system activities in accordance with the prevailing DL policies and procedures.
7. Perform mathematical calculations for GIS data analysis and map development.
8. Research, create, manage and maintain GIS spatial and tabular data to provide the users with the latest and accurate data available.
9. Perform analyses on spatial and tabular data in producing reports, maps, graphs and charts as requested by Management and user Departments.
10. Develop, implement and manage GIS data and its organizational structure/database environment.
11. Engage with key stakeholders, both internal and external, to ensure partnership and industry alignment and ensuring that internal clients get value
12. Determine budgetary requirements for GIS System and providing long-term planning related to GIS.
13.Prepare periodic reports.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience
• The ideal candidate must have a minimum qualification of a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or Geographical Information System (GIS) or its equivalent qualification.
• Those with practical experience will have an added advantage.
