Electricity Regulatory Authority Risk Officer Jobs in Uganda

The Electricity Regulatory Authority (ERA) is a Statutory Body established in accordance with the Electricity Act, 1999, Chapter 145 of the Laws of Uganda. The Act empowers ERA to regulate the Generation, Transmission, Sale, Export, Import and Distribution of Electrical Energy in Uganda.

The Authority seeks to recruit a competent and well-motivated person to fill the vacant position of Risk Officer. The position is contractual, running for an initial Five (5) year period and subject to renewal, upon satisfactory performance.

Responsibilities

Identify emerging risks to the achievement of ERA’s objectives.

Develop a program of communication and training on risk that includes promoting a risk-aware culture and providing guidelines on policies and procedures for managing specific risks to ERA staff.

Monitor and report on the implementation of the Risk Standard Operating Procedures.

Monitor the incorporation of Risk Performance Measures within Departmental work plans.

Co-ordinate Risk Assessment through identification, analysis and evaluation of key risks to the achievement of ERA’s objectives.

Monitor the quarterly review and update of the Risk Registers.

Monitor and report on the implementation and adequacy of identified Risk responses by the respective risk owners.

Develop and Implement a Business Continuity Plan for ERA, including relevant escalation and communication protocols.

Co-ordinate and provide secretariat support to the Management Risk Committee.

Monitor the proper functioning of the Risk communication arrangements within ERA.

Prepare audience specific quarterly risk reports and generate Risk content for ERA’s annual and any other reports as may be necessary.

Any other duties

as may be reasonably assigned by the Supervisor or Management.

Requirements

A Bachelor's Degree Hons in Risk Management, Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or any other relevant field.

ACCA, CIA, CPA, or Certified Member of the Institute of Risk Management.

Full Professional Membership of the Institute of Internal Auditors.

Certification in Risk Management is an added advantage.

At least five (5) years of relevant working experience.

Should be result oriented and a team player with a high degree of professionalism and integrity.

Should be between 28 and 40 years of age.
