Applicants MUST Have the Following Academic/Professional Qualifications and Requirements:

An earned PhD degree or Master of Medicine in Paediatrics or equivalent from a University recognized in Kenya. The Master’s degree shall have an equivalent in Fellowship Training
recognised by the Medical Council of Kenya.

Have at least three (3) years of teaching experience at the university level as a Lecturer or six (6) years research/industry experience.

Have a minimum of thirty-two (32) publication points as a Lecturer or equivalent, of which at least twenty-four (24) must be from refereed scholarly journals.

Supervision of post-graduate students will be an added advantage.

Have attracted research or development funds as a Lecturer

Have registered with the relevant professional body.

Certificate of good conduct

Duties and Responsibilities for Senior Lecturer

Responsible to the Chair of Department, a Senior Lecturer shall have the following specific
responsibilities:

Teach and mentor both undergraduate and post graduate students.

Articulate the mission and vision of the University and the Department.

Initiate, plan and conduct research.

Develop teaching and learning materials.

Supervise postgraduate students in research activities.

Participate in development and

preparation of Department and Faculty development plans.

Organise and supervising educational activities for undergraduate students.

Attend and participate in seminars, workshops, conferences etc. in relevant fields.

Participate in administrative, academic and consultancy activities in the Department and other
organisations.

Participate in the planning, development, implementation and evaluation of curricula in the
Department.

Participate in departmental meetings and other activities for effective and efficient management of the Department and Faculty.

May be assigned or delegated other duties and responsibilities by the Chief Officers of the
University, Dean of Faculty or Chair of Department as deemed necessary
