Currently Edukans Ethiopia is looking for qualified Fundraising Manager with relevant experience to support Edukans’ resource mobilisation efforts.

About the Role

This role is responsible for growing Edukans’ institutional funding through initiating new donor engagements, sustaining relationships with existing donors, scanning funding opportunities and transforming such opportunities into concrete project proposals that link Edukans thematic focus areas and approaches to institutional donor requirements.

Major Responsibilities

Funding Proposal Development

  • Identify funding opportunities and coordinate the development of effective grant project designs and proposals with technical leadership of program leads (both in country and at HQs) for submission to donors.

  • Serve as proposal coordinator for high value proposals to ensure development of high-quality concept notes and proposals.

  • Coordinate and lead the process of proposal development, bid management and writing high-quality project proposals and this include conducting research for anticipated opportunities, developing draft proposal sections, developing track record references to ensure high-quality proposals that meet the requirements of the donors.

  • Monitor the competitive landscape, assess, and test innovative approaches, conduct regular in-country donor strategy analysis and risk assessments, and update the Edukans Ethiopia’s funding strategy.

  • Lead in the development of capacity statement and track records.

  • Build organizational understanding of new donors and contribute information for prioritization of emerging donors through research and external relationships.

  • Ensure the oversight and management of the organizational pipeline opportunity system and account related database for the country office. Conceptualize with the team and design proposals for new project activities, amendments, and extensions to current projects.

  • Manage the entire process of the proposal development lifecycle. Identify proposal teams, outline roles and responsibilities of each team member and ensure that a complete, high-quality proposal is submitted on time.

  • Negotiate and coordinate teaming agreements, memorandum of understanding and other relevant agreements with donors and potential implementing partners.

  • Continuously document lessons & best practices of the country office fundraising efforts and share them to other Edukans Country Offices.

    Engagement with Donors and Implementing Partners

  • Lead the adaptation and implementation of Edukans Partnership Strategy; and ensure that potential implementing partners are mapped, trust and relationships are built and are ready for joint responses to emerging funding opportunities.

  • Map and priorities donors and develop donor relationship management strategy for each donor highlighting Edukans compelling value proposition(s) for each donor.

  • Build active relationships with potential
    donors, allies/partners. Ensure donor intelligence and community priorities/needs, create opportunities and position Edukans for funding opportunities.

  • Engage with donors at strategic level on funding opportunities. Create and maintain a link and a strong bond between the donors and Edukans and ensure the participation of technical and program leads in donor engagement fora.

  • Identify new feasible models of partnerships.

  • Ensure donor reporting, compliance standards and requirements are communicated to relevant thematic leads promptly.

    Fund Raising Plan and Strategy Development

  • Ensure that Edukans has clear fundraising plans highlighting fundraising targets for each year.

  • Align the fundraising plan with country Strategic Plan and Annual Plans to be shared internally and to potential donors and relevant government agencies.

  • Closely work with Edukans Institutional Fundraising (IF) Coordinator based in The Netherlands and represent Edukans Ethiopia in the regular IF meetings.

  • Reporting line: Reports to Country Director

    Job Requirements

    Qualifications and Experience

  • Master's degree in education, Development Studies, Business Development, or other Social Sciences relevant to Education, skills development, and youth employment programs.

  • Good understanding of donor compliance and reporting mechanisms for major donors such as FCDO, UN Agencies, EU, USAID is an advantage.

  • 5 -7 years of experience in international development and demonstrate a level of responsibility and accountability.

  • Proven experience in organization strategic positioning, fundraising and acquisition of awards.

  • Proven and successful record of accomplishment in the development of winning proposals from institutional donors.

  • Experience in coordinating and writing high value proposals to prioritized donors.

  • Experience in managing, negotiating, and resolving complex tasks, awards, and award-related issues effectively.

  • Ability to cultivate and maintain professional donor and stakeholder relationships.

  • Ability to meet competing priorities, demanding deadlines, and work under pressure.

  • Has strong writing, networking, marketing, facilitation, presentation, negotiation, conflict resolution and coordination skills.

  • Has strong planning and time management skills, multi-task & adapt to frequent changing priorities.

  • Has strong analytical skills and in depth understanding of strategies (ability to link donor priorities and Edukans strategy)

  • Fluency in written and spoken English and widely spoken languages in Ethiopia.

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to appropriately address diverse audiences.
