Education Development Trust Senior Field Officer - Kenya Jobs

The Senior Field Officer is a key part of the GEC Transition Kenya –Wasichana Wetu Wafaulu (WWW project) with primary responsibility of assisting the Regional Coordinator in the day today implementation of the project outputs in the community, households and girl level.



The post holder will ensure that the components of the projects as designated to him/her are completed on time and within budget and that the project component(s) objectives are met.



Job Objectives:


  • Oversee and serve as technical lead in community programmes within the designated
    geographical areas with an aim of propagating Project agenda within communities and
    households.
  • Assist the Regional Coordinator in drawing and implementing Project block work plans and
    budgets;
  • Actively provide model and mentorship programmes for other Field officers;
  • Assist in compiling, developing, analyzing, review of monthly, quarterly and emerging field
    reports and data; and ensure timely submission of these reports to the immediate and supervisor
  • Take lead in consultation with the Regional Coordinator in the supervision, appraisal,
    training, and recruitment of field support teams such as CHVs and CFS;
  • Represents the Regional Coordinator in Project related activities and forums;
  • Take part in organizing, raising requisitions and training activities targeting teachers, school management committees, community leaders on Social accountability, Gender, community health strategy and behavior change activities in schools;
  • Attend stakeholder forums and enhance partnership with GOK, CSO, PTA and head
    teachers by attending stakeholder forums and maintaining good working relationships
    within the program period.
  • Make follow ups in liaison with other Field officers on enrolled and re-enrolled girls to
    ascertain school attendance, transition and learning outcomes with the intent of
    restructuring out of school support.
  • Take charge of distribution processes of project materials to beneficiaries including
    development of distribution plans.
  • Oversee the implementation of Catch up centers, community holiday programs for girls
    and work hand in hand with the TVETS managers.
  • Oversee implementation of project activities through community and other Target groups
  • Coordinate follow ups of beneficiaries of TVETs and secondary schools’ scholarships
  • Analyze, consolidate, and maintain the various girls’ databases/profiles within the region
  • Assume duties of the RC during leave and out of county project assignments
  • Consolidate child safeguarding matters for follow up by the regional CP focus person

    Knowledge:

    Essential:


  • Holder of at least Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Education, public relations and
    administration, sociology, community Development, Community Health, counselling
    psychology
  • Three (3) years’ experience in
    field related activities that involve community engagement in participatory approaches.
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Fluent in English and understanding of local language will be an added advantage
  • Demonstrated experience in implementation of behaviour change and health related
    activities
  • A good knowledge of and understanding of project management tools and techniques.
  • Ability to manage and analyse project data;
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.


    Experience:

    Essential:

  • Proven successful experience in project co-ordination role at field level, including
    preparation of project plans, risk and issues logs; management of project action plans.
  • Activity based budget development and management.
  • Planning and performance management
  • Ability to use initiative demonstrating commitment and flexibility.
  • Evidence of having operated in a hardship environment.
  • Ability to prioritise workload, and work to deadlines.
  • Ability to recognise ‘drift’ and develop and implement remedial actions
  • Working on multiple projects and tasks
  • Monitoring work, ensuring its quality and acting to correct problems arising.

  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite;
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills;
  • Very strong stakeholder liaison and interpersonal skills with the ability to work
    collaboratively in cross-functional teams and with a wide range of external stakeholders,
    including the client, schools and consultants, including the ability to speak publicly and work effectively as a member of a team;
  • Good data management and analysis skills;
  • Excellent analytical and writing skills;
  • Effective time management skills with demonstrated ability to manage a diverse and
    demanding workload in a fast-paced environment;
  • Concern for detail to ensure the accuracy of information;
  • Completer/finisher
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Self- starter with ability to work unsupervised and good team player;
  • Ability to ask for help as required;
  • Any other reasonable duty as may be assigned that is consistent with the nature of the job and the safe and effective operation of the organisation
