Eden Reforestation Projects Program Director Jobs in Kenya; The Program Director leads the Olokeri landscape restoration and carbon initiatives in the Greater Naimina Enkiyio Forest Region and serves as the primary in‑country lead for Kenya field operations. This senior leadership role provides strategic and technical oversight across landscape restoration, community engagement, governance, and carbon project development, guiding the project from early‑stage design through implementation and investment readiness.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership: Lead planning and execution of the Olokeri landscape project, ensuring mission alignment, high impact, locally‑informed strategies, and proactive risk management.

  • Project Development + Delivery: Lead the full project lifecycle, ensuring quality, compliance with Kenyan regulations and international carbon standards, and continuous improvement.

  • Team Leadership + Development: Recruit, train, and lead a high‑performing team; mentor staff, set clear goals, monitor progress, and promote excellence.

  • Consortium + Partnership Management: Build and strengthen relationships across partners; facilitate collaboration, align workplans, manage governance, and resolve operational issues.

  • Donor Engagement + Capital Development: Support donor, investor, and carbon market engagement; contribute to proposals, presentations, and funding materials.

  • Community Engagement + FPIC: Oversee inclusive community engagement and FPIC processes, integrating traditional knowledge into project design.

  • Monitoring, Evaluation, + Reporting: Ensure systems generate high‑quality data for adaptive management and reporting to partners, donors, and carbon standards bodies.

  • Compliance + Operational Readiness: Ensure compliance with Kenyan carbon regulations, laws, and organizational policies; strengthen operational systems.

  • Budgetary Oversight: Manage project budgets, ensuring sound financial stewardship and alignment with objectives.

  • Investment Readiness: Support transition toward carbon finance by contributing to financial models, investment materials, due diligence, and positioning for investment.

    Education + Work Experience
  • Advanced degree (Master’s or higher) in forestry, environmental management, natural resource management, sustainable development, or related field.

  • At least 6 years of progressively responsible experience leading conservation, restoration, or
    carbon project initiatives.

  • Demonstrated experience in nature‑based carbon projects (ARR, FLR, REDD+).

  • Experience in community governance, sustainable livelihoods, biodiversity conservation, or rural development desirable.

  • Experience coordinating multiple partners, government stakeholders, donors, and technical collaborators.

  • Experience in Kenya or East Africa strongly preferred.

  • Certifications or training in carbon accounting, GHG quantification, project management, GIS or geospatial analysis preferred.

    Skills + Abilities
  • Strong knowledge of international carbon standards (Equitable Earth, Verra VCS, Gold Standard).

  • Working knowledge of Kenyan environmental, land‑use, and carbon policy frameworks.

  • Ability to translate technical concepts into practical strategies and communicate effectively.

  • Proficient in project management methodologies and tools.

  • Strong technical grounding in forest ecology, biodiversity, and ecosystem services.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills across diverse stakeholders.

  • Creative problem‑solver with resilience and adaptability.

  • Ability to analyze data, synthesize findings, and produce high‑quality reports.

  • Proficiency with MS Office and GIS tools; familiarity with remote sensing desirable.

  • Experience with carbon financial models and investor‑facing documentation highly desired.

  • Fluency in English required; proficiency in Kiswahili and/or Maa strongly preferred.
