Eden Reforestation Projects MEAL Manager Jobs in Kenya; The Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL) Manager serves as the technical lead for all MEAL and MRV (Monitoring, Reporting, and Verification) activities, supporting forest carbon projects in Kenya. The MEAL Manager oversees the implementation of integrated systems that ensure high‑quality data on carbon, social, and biodiversity outcomes while facilitating evidence‑based decision‑making and continuous improvement.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Manage and implement robust MEAL and MRV systems integrating field monitoring, geospatial, and remote‑sensing data.

  • Establish data governance frameworks to uphold data quality, ownership, traceability, and security.

  • Lead analysis of monitoring data to identify trends, uncertainties, and lessons, translating findings into actionable insights.

  • Maintain audit‑ready documentation to comply with international carbon standards and Kenyan law; coordinate validation and verification processes.

  • Provide technical guidance on MRV for carbon projects, including methodologies, sampling, carbon pool selection, and remote sensing.

  • Oversee quality control of carbon data and ensure adherence to approved methodologies.

  • Integrate community feedback and safeguards into MEAL processes, documenting FPIC and participatory monitoring.

  • Manage MEAL/MRV budgets and resources, ensuring cost‑effective monitoring aligned with project goals.

  • Recruit, train, and lead a high‑performing team; mentor staff and promote continuous improvement.

    Education + Work Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Forestry, Environmental Science, Natural Resource Management, Ecology, Geography/Geospatial Science, Climate Science, Statistics, Development Studies, or related field.

  • At least 5 years of progressive experience in environmental monitoring, carbon projects, or data systems management.

  • Minimum 2–3 years in supervisory or team leadership roles in MEAL.

  • Solid experience with forest conservation
    or carbon project MRV, including third‑party validation/verification.

  • Familiarity with reforestation, restoration ecology, carbon accounting, or climate change mitigation projects.

  • Certifications or training in carbon accounting, GHG quantification, project management, GIS or geospatial analysis preferred.

    Skills + Abilities
  • Strong technical expertise in forest carbon MRV and FLR/ARR methodologies.

  • Proven ability to manage integrated monitoring systems combining field, geospatial, and remote‑sensing data.

  • Exceptional analytical skills with robust QA/QC processes.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to present technical information clearly.

  • High professional integrity, sound judgement, and ability to balance operational demands with compliance.

  • Proficiency with MS Office, GIS tools, and monitoring/reporting systems.

  • Familiarity with GIS, remote sensing, EarthRanger, and Ecoscope desirable.

  • Fluency in English required; proficiency in Kiswahili and/or Maa strongly preferred.
