Economic Commission for Africa Senior Statistics Assistant Jobs in Ethiopia; This position is located in the Data Capability and Geospatial Knowledge Section of the African Centre for Statistics, UNECA. The incumbent works under the overall guidance of the Director of the African Centre for Statistics and reports to the Chief of the Section.

Responsibilities

Collect, evaluate, process, and analyze statistical data from multiple sources

Process, classify, and ensure internal consistency of data; reconcile discrepancies in data series

Build special datasets for research needs or reports

Prepare charts, graphs, and outputs for reporting and presentations

Develop, test, and implement software solutions for statistical applications based on specifications

Maintain and enhance relevant database systems

Respond to internal/external requests related to specific programmes

Liaise with UN system organizations to obtain statistical and relevant information

Prepare datasets upon request; respond to queries; maintain/update web-based applications

Support modernization of statistical production systems using digital technologies and interoperable platforms

Supervise and guide other general service staff as needed

Perform other duties as assigned

High school diploma or equivalent required

Certificate or higher qualification in data science or technology an added advantage

Work Experience

Minimum 10 years of experience in statistics, finance, accounting, IT, data science/technology, or related areas required

At least 1 year of experience in data analytics desirable

Experience in database design and management desirable

Languages

English required

French desirable
