Dodai Manufacturing Plc (Dodai), is a recently incorporated organization launched in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia on August 01, 2023. Dodai is a fast growing organization with a mission of making e-mobility accessible to everyone in Africa through its innovative products and services.

Dodai plans to provide brand new electric two wheelers by assembling them here in Addis Ababa and plans to expand to major regional cities in Ethiopia by the end of 2024. It’s thus looking to engage dynamic Ethiopian talent to ensure the achievement of its goals.

Purpose of the Position

The FM for Dodai will be part of the middle management team and will be responsible to oversee the overall manufacturing/assembly process of electric two wheelers (E2W) to ensure optimized production as Dodai expands and grows.

S/he is expected to initiate and lead factory expansion and reorganization efforts, based on current and projected factory, logistics and sales data. S/he will also be responsible for digitizing the overall processes in the factory. Besides,

S/he will ensure visibility and understanding of production status across the different departments across our rapidly expanding logistics, sales, after sales and business development sections. This is in addition to directing and developing the skills of the Production Supervisor in daily production and quality management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Continuously design and implement plans for the effective use of material and labor resources to achieve manufacturing targets, based on the state-of-the-art industrial technology & practices. Scale up factory production capacity by 10x over next 12 months while improving efficiency and safety to the international standard

  • Oversee production activities 24/7 to ensure on-time and within-budget delivery of our E-motorbikes.

  • Direct the Production Supervisor in the hiring, orienting, and training of technical production employees to ensure a competent and agile and motivated workforce.

  • Closely coordinate with Supply Chain Manager in planning inventory and factory preparation for upcoming shipment

  • Develop professional health and safety procedures in accordance with internationally recognized standards.

  • Ensure a coordinated factory that is agile & adaptable to the ebb and flow of logistics, sales
    and business development.

  • Analyze and provide solutions to manufacturing challenges or problems.

  • Lead efforts to cost effectively automate unsafe and inefficient production processes.

  • Implement a digital data collection system in the factory to provide in depth analysis on the state of the factory.

  • Set and monitor factory KPIs.

  • Develop and implement a continuous factory staff training and rewards programme to ensure career development and motivation amongst factory staff.

  • Review personnel performance to determine individuals most suited for promotion.

  • Lead and coordinate emergency responses related to the warehouse/assembly (accident, fire, natural disaster, unscheduled inspection from authorities etc.)

    Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or closely related fields

  • Minimum of 10 years working in a vehicle manufacturing setting preferably with similar products (2W, 3W etc.), experience in electric vehicle manufacturing is highly desired

  • Minimum of 5 years experience managing a team within a factory environment

  • Experience in setting up SCADA, MES, MRP, ERP or other data acquisition, analysis and planning systems in a manufacturing environment.

  • Experience in factory layout and production optimization using industrial software.

  • Willing to work in a fast paced & challenging environment.

  • Deep knowledge in production and quality control standards (ISO standards) is a plus.

  • Sound knowledge of factory layout planning,

  • Sound knowledge of electrical and pneumatic tools.

  • Experience with lithium ion batteries is a plus.

  • Proficient in all Microsoft Office applications.

  • Outstanding time management skills.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Strong management and leadership skills.

  • Effective communication skills.

  • Up to date with the latest global factory technology
