Diakonie Katastrophenhilfe seeks to recruit a suitable candidate to fill the following position;

Diakonie Katastrophenhilfe is a non-governmental organization Head Quartered in Berlin – Germany that provides principle-oriented humanitarian aid worldwide.

The Regional Office in Nairobi implements the guidelines of Diakonie Katastrophenhilfe in its projects and programs within the framework of the binding principles and applicable guidelines of Diakonie Katastrophenhilfe in particular and of ecumenical Diakonie in general.

Professional requirements:

  • Completed scientific university studies in the relevant subject
  • Professional experience in the field of humanitarian aid
  • High intercultural competence and sensitivity as well as several years of work experience in different African countries
  • Well-founded and demonstrated leadership experience
  • Sound professional experience in connection with humanitarian crises and complex catastrophes in the East African region
  • Good knowledge of the implementation of country-specific as well as regional programs and projects (PCM, MEAL)
  • Sound experience in the institutional development work of partner organisations
  • Experience in managing multidisciplinary and multicultural teams
  • Sound knowledge in management, finance and administration
  • Good
    knowledge of safety management and sound experience in designing and implementing safety plans
  • Experience in humanitarian protection and intervention in areas of crisis
  • Experience with DRR and LRRD and projects which address the nexus between humanitarian and development aid
  • Experience in all aspects of Human Resource management
  • Experience in (German) media and public relations work
  • English and good knowledge of German are mandatory, Swahili, French and Arabic are advantageous
