Job Purpose

  • Reporting to the Head of Business Banking, the role holder will be responsible for optimizing the delivery of Business Banking strategies for the Enterprise Segment ensuring that customer value propositions are developed, operationalized and Business Banking targets (sales and financial) are achieved.

    Key Accountabilities

  • Responsible for the overall performance of the Enterprise Banking value proposition.

  • Driving sales initiatives in line with the Business Banking Strategy.

  • Acquire and build relationships with profitable Enterprise Banking customers.

  • Analyzing, developing, and implementing comprehensive liability strategy as well as optimizing the Enterprise Banking balance sheet.

  • Set Enterprise Banking budgets across all segments. This will require strong matrix management capabilities for all segments.

  • Integrating and aligning Business, Segment and Human Resources (HR) management platforms to ensure shared accountability for sustainable business growth and employee/ customer retention.

  • Grow cross selling opportunities offered under the Enterprise Banking value proposition in the bank and expand share of wallet.

  • Pro-actively and regularly improve value proposition and product offering.

  • Review the total performance of the Enterprise Banking portfolio on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis and develop short term strategy shifts to ensure that overall performance targets can be met.

  • Work with the branch distribution team to develop customer approaches for individual enterprise relationships, setting size of wallet and cross-sell targets, and providing regular coaching and feedback to them on their progress towards achieving objectives.

  • Coach branch staff on credit process and criteria to ensure that they become experts at developing proposals for potential customers.

  • Provide input into any new training requirements that have been identified for business bankers in the branch network.

  • Identify areas of improvement for existing value proposition, products, and processes, and create recommendations for Consumer Banking leadership on how to implement such improvements.

  • Maintain a quality asset book and support the recovery and regularizing of Enterprise Banking loans in arrears.

  • Acts as the custodian of Enterprise Banking.

    Qualifications, Experience and
    Competencies Required:


  • A Bachelor’s Degree.

  • A Credit Certification will be an added advantage.

  • At least six years’ experience in retail banking with a sales background, and at least three years in managing relationships.

  • Solutions oriented i.e. strong ability to provide financial solutions to customers.

  • Strong sales/networking and Relationship Management background.

  • Strong Communication and presentation skills.

  • Strong credit and portfolio management skills.

  • Good judgment and decision ability.

  • Good understanding of the SME Segment.

  • Strong Industry and business awareness.

  • Good knowledge of the Bank’s products, systems, retail banking goals/objectives.

  • Leadership and managerial skills.

  • Excellent problem solving and decision-making skills.

  • Good organization & teamwork skills.

  • Strong people management and leadership skills.

  • Outgoing, self-motivated, assertive, and proactive.

  • A self-driver.

  • A good team player able to work under minimum supervision.

  • Strong analytical skills.
