    Position Overview:

  • Our client is seeking to hire a passionate Software Engineer who enjoys sharing their experiences.

  • The Developer Advocate position will be part of the global Autodesk Developer Advocacy and Support team and is dedicated to evangelizing these technologies.

  • As a member of a high-impact team, you will play an important role in the support of Autodesk Hero product APIs and also have opportunities to work with the newest web and cloud technologies that make up Autodesk’s new cloud infrastructure.

    The Opportunity:

  • Our client and Support team are working closely with the engineering teams developing the core software on which current and or client’s future products are being built. We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic about learning new technologies and to promote technologies to Autodesk partners.

  • Our client also runs the Autodesk Developer Network (ADN) program, and we are looking for someone to focus on the Inventor, Vault and/or Fusion API, and who has cloud and web programming passion and experience.

  • This position supports continuous learning and improvement of your coding and design skills.

    Responsibilities

  • Develop technical content for the Forge and ADN program including technical notes and whitepapers. Content is published on Forge and ADN blogs and used for conferences and technical marketing events.

  • Write extensive sample code that demonstrates API usage and best practice. Documenting your code is essential for knowledge transfer.

  • Develop and deliver training courses and/or presentations to customers and partners through conferences and meetups. Currently with the Covid-19 Pandemic, in-person events are limited, so we are doing this all online. The experience is the same; share your passion with our customers! Topics include support for the product APIs, and/or other software-development related concepts.

  • Assist with technical marketing activities including presentations and event participation. Examples may include Autodesk University or other Manufacturing specific conferences.

  • Use your knowledge of Autodesk product and web APIs to assist partners
    and customers with their business objectives. Assist with their software design by providing them with technical information on Autodesk APIs and technologies. Help resolve technical issues including communicating the functions of the API. Support customer and partners by answering questions about the Autodesk Manufacturing product API questions.

  • Work with internal product development engineering teams worldwide to help resolve customer and developer issues. Act as a liaison between engineering and partners by helping to evaluate and influence new product releases.

  • Submit defect and product enhancement reports and work closely with engineering to ensure appropriate resolution of issues impacting customer satisfaction.

    Qualifications

  • You are a passionate programmer who is excited about learning new technology and teaching others.

  • BSc or greater in Computer Science, software engineering or a related technical field.

  • 2-5 years of experience

  • Web technology skills including JavaScript, REST, HTML .NET programming skills are essential for our Manufacturing product environments, including knowledge of object-oriented design.

  • Experience or are interested to learn Inventor, Vault, and/or Fusion API and programming environments. Knowledge of these environments and their customization capabilities will be valuable.

  • Written and verbal English skills are extremely important. Ability to be patient and communicate across cultures. Other language fluency is also a great asset. Empathy for our customers is our greatest asset!

  • Ability to troubleshoot software and programming problems.

  • Enjoy interacting with people – including one-on-one conversations and presenting to audiences in various mediums. Currently this virtual events, but will become in-person as the Covid-19 pandemic falls behind us.

  • Enjoy writing – including blogging, tweeting, and other social media outlets.

    Bonus points

  • A background in computer graphics with both theoretical and practical expertise. – Comfortable and effective working in new areas that require experimentation and rapid problem solving

  • Hands-on experience with security best practice

  • Theoretical knowledge about reactive and functional programming

  • Experience with software testing practices

  • Knowledge of other platform programming technologies, such as JavaScript, .NET or other modern environments like Python or Go.

  • Experience with Git or equivalent revision control systems.

  • Knowledge about web development related technology such as express, node.js, npm
