Department of Management Strategy, Policy and Compliance Office of Human Resources Programme Management Officer Jobs in Kenya; The consultant will strengthen the integration of UPA into municipal policies and planning in Curitiba.
By generating evidence on carbon sequestration, emissions reduction and carbon credit potential, the consultancy will support UPA as a nature‑based solution and strategic climate action.
Outputs will inform the Food Connection Programme (Programa Conexão Alimentar), the revision of the Municipal Climate Plan (PlanClima), and other ecosystem service initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Coordinate with Municipality of Curitiba on carbon project implementation.
Draft database structure for stakeholders active in carbon markets.
Run workshops, engage stakeholders and conduct site visits.
Conduct baseline assessments and monitor project progress.
Provide monthly reports to UNEP and communicate updates with TEEBAgriFood team.
Support field activities, stakeholder engagement and dissemination materials.
Provide technical assistance to municipalities and states engaged in TEEBAgriFood.
Identify and analyze cross‑sectoral policies related to UPA.
Collaborate to adapt legal and policy instruments to municipal context.
Outputs / Work Assignment
Curated data from UPA projects with carbon components (composting, biochar, agroforestry).
Measurement of carbon stocks (biomass, soil, dead matter) in UPA sites.
Draft structure for municipal market for environmental assets, aligned with Climate
Plan revision.
Qualifications / Special Skills
Advanced degree in Environmental Science or related fields required.
First‑level degree with 2 additional years of experience may be accepted.
Minimum 2 years’ professional experience in carbon market assessment and analysis required.
Experience working in Curitiba and its biome desirable.
In‑depth knowledge of Brazilian institutional, political and regulatory context required.
Strong understanding of climate change, nature‑based solutions and ecosystem services required.
Ability to work autonomously in fast‑paced environments required.
Ability to translate technical evidence into policy‑relevant recommendations desirable.
Languages
Fluency in English required.
Fluency in Portuguese required.
