Danish Refugee Council Safeguarding and Code of Conduct Specialist Jobs in Nigeria;This role has a Nigeria country focus and ensures compliance with DRC’s Code of Conduct Reporting Mechanism (CoCRM) and Safeguarding procedures.

The Specialist nurtures and promotes a culture of safeguarding and accountability, supports investigations, coordinates survivor referrals, and builds staff capacity in safeguarding and PSEAH practices.

Responsibilities

Complaint Registration:

Set and manage complaint tracks (hotline, email, complaint boxes, etc.)

Advise reporting persons on CoCRM structure and procedures

Register complaints in the Code of Conduct Tracking Tool and inform regional/HQ registrars

Support registrars in providing feedback to reporting persons

Coordinate with Regional Registrar for CoC

Investigation Lead & Support:

Conduct internal investigations under regional/HQ oversight

Produce high-quality investigation and closure reports

Monitor investigations on behalf of Regional Safeguarding Office

Represent DRC in relevant PSEAH working groups and networks

Support investigators by mapping services, approaching survivors, identifying needs, and referring to providers

Interview survivors when appropriate

Conduct monitoring and spot checks of partner functions for compliance

Collaboration with Nigeria Teams:

Work with programme and MEAL teams to uphold accountability to affected populations

Maintain efficient connection between CoCRM and CFMs for fast-tracking PSEAH cases

Advise management on safeguarding requirements in partner contracts

Plan and deliver PSEAH trainings and CoCRM awareness sessions for staff, partners, and persons of concern

Record and track all safeguarding trainings in the country office

Compliance:

Work with Risk & Compliance Specialist to update improvement plans

Support evaluation of compliance risks and recommend corrective actions

Ensure DRC policies and procedures are relevant, communicated, and implemented

Build team capacity through trainings on internal controls and fraud detection

Support partners in developing/adapting support service policies

and manuals

Qualifications

Experience & Technical Competencies:

Minimum 3 years’ experience in safeguarding and Code of Conduct operations

Experience influencing senior management and stakeholders in complex contexts

Experience conducting or monitoring internal investigations, including fraud

Experience developing and delivering training sessions

Knowledge of safeguarding and PSEA standards, with survivor-centered approach

Oral and written communication skills in English and Hausa (mandatory)

Commitment to DRC’s values and Code of Conduct

Integrity, professionalism, reliability, and confidentiality

Education:

Master’s degree in a relevant area

Languages:

Fluency in written and spoken Hausa and English
