  • The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is a humanitarian, non-governmental, non-profit organization founded in 1956 that fulfills its mandate by providing direct assistance to conflict-affected populations refugees, internally displaced people (IDPs) and host communities in the conflict areas of the world.

  • DRC seek to hire a qualified consultant to assess the retention rates and challenges faced by university refugee students in four Universities of Tigray Regional State.

  • These universities will be Mekelle University, Aksum University, Adi Grat university and Raya university where potential refugees’ students (population study group) access the scholarship opportunities provided to them.

    Location of the study

  • The intended study is planned to be undertaken in four Universities of Tigray Regional state explicitly the universities will be Mekelle University, Aksum University, Adi Grat university and Raya university where potential refugees’ students (population study group) access the scholarship opportunities provided to them.

    Scope of the consultancy

  • The consultant will undertake research on four universities to understand retention rate and challenges faced to refugee university students.

  • Share report and recommended findings for new intervention, advocacy and possible solution for the findings.

  • The number of populations in the study will be 120 refugee
    university students.

    Purpose & duration of assignment

  • The consultancy will undertake research designed to better understand the retention rate and challenges faced by university refugee students.

  • The total duration of the assignment will be 25 work days, including week ends

    Job Requirements

    Expected profile of consultant

  • MA or BA in Education or relevant field of study

  • The consultancy should have a thorough knowledge of working with international non-governmental organizations, and /or Ethiopia’s Agency for Refugees and Returnees Affairs (ARRA), refugee camp life. It should also be able to incorporate an understanding of the Ethiopian education system, and its expansion efforts among refugees, especially Eritrean refugees.

  • Renewed consultancy licensee (This excludes firms or individual consultancy without renewed licensee)

  • Fluency in English and Tigrigna is (desirable)

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skill
