Title: Project Support Specialist- Event Specialist

Introduction

The Danish Refugee Council (DRC), an international non-governmental organization (NGO), has been providing relief and development services in the Horn of Africa since 1997.

DRC promotes and supports solutions to the problems faced by refugees, internally displaced people (IDPs), and migrants.

The organization has offices across the region, and has been operational in Ethiopia since 2009.

With funding from bilateral and multilateral donors, DRC is currently implementing a range of activities across Ethiopia and Djibouti, including WASH and shelter provision, child and youth protection, gender based violence response, awareness-raising of migration risks, protection monitoring of migration routes, and livelihoods support for returning migrants or those at-risk of migration.

Position’s Overall Objectives

Under the supervision of the Legal Protection Coordinator, the casual worker will be responsible for supporting the implementation of the DRC’s current and future protection activity events hosted by the organization.

The casual worker will oversee activities including Planning, organizing and facilitating conferences, trainings and workshops which are hosted by Danish Refugee council protection team

Responsibilities and Tasks

Technical Responsibilities:

  • Plan and organize events hosted by DRC protection team
  • Organize, facilitate and manage all events details such as décor, catering, transportation, location, invitee list, special guests, equipment’s, promotional materials etc.
  • Support legal protection coordinator on plan layout for event, schedule and agenda of the program including arranging invitation for delegates
  • Coordinate event participant requirement and briefing

    Project Monitoring and Evaluation:

  • Monitor even to oversee activities and ensure details are handled as planned
  • Propose ideas to improve provided service and event quality

    Report Writing and Documentation

  • Support in preparing post-event report
  • Ensure proper documentation of all event activities

    Job Requirements

    Required:

  • Minimum of 1 years of experience in business management, hotel management, marketing and related fields
  • Impressive portfolio of previous managed events
  • Ability to multi-task, remain calm and work under pressure
  • Attention to details and good problem solving skills.
  • Strong planning, organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to work both independently and within a team.
  • Integrity, strong work ethic, and ability to consistently meet deadlines under pressure.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and commitment to learning and implementing organizational policies and procedures.
  • Full proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel.
