Danish Refugee Council NGO Finance Coordinator Jobs in South Sudan


Who are we?

The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) and Danish Demining Group (DDG) is a humanitarian, non-governmental, non-profit organization founded in 1956 that works in more than 30 countries through-out the world, including South Sudan. DRC/DDG fulfills its mandate by providing direct assistance to conflict-affected populations, including refugees, internally displaced people and host communities. Under its mandate, the organization focuses on emergency humanitarian response, rehabilitation, post-conflict recovery and humanitarian mine-action.

Responsibilities

  • Follow up with field teams to ensure timely submission of accountancy as per DRC internal quality standards and deadlines
  • Ensure field offices maintain accurate physical and electronic records for all financial transactions
  • Create project cards for input in Navision (DRC Accountancy software)
  • Ensure regular follow up on temporary coded posting and monitoring of flows
  • Carry out periodic compliance self-check in field offices and draft action points.
  • Prepare and implement staff capacity building action plan by providing trainings, mentoring in good grant management practices and DRC finance procedures.
  • Fill relevant gaps in the finance department during leave/absence of finance staff or during periods of exceptional workloads.
  • Any other
    relevant duties assigned by the line manager

    Requirements

  • At least bachelor degree in finance related fields
  • Strong abilities to work with spread sheets (Ms. Excel) is an advantage
  • Have at least 2 years of international practical experience in a financial management position
  • Have proven working experience with UNHCR, ECHO, BPRM and other UN donors guidelines in budgeting and reporting
  • Be able to prepare budgets and reports with minimum support
  • Have the ability to present complex information in a succinct and compelling manner
  • Have proven ability to sometimes work and live under very basic living conditions
  • Have the ability to work under heavy pressure, with minimal supervision, and in a culturally diverse team
  • Experience of and well developed skills in staff management, supervision and capacity building
  • Knowledge of the requirements of the major emergency donors and experience in budgeting and reporting to donors.
  • Excellent planning, management and coordination skills, with the ability to organize a workload comprised of varying and changing tasks and responsibilities
  • Experience in managing multicultural teams
