Danish Refugee Council Mobile Protection Manager Jobs in South Sudan


We are looking for highly qualified, self-motivated Mobile Protection Manager able to work with diverse teams of both national and international staff as well as local government authorities, UN agencies, I/NGOs and other partners under difficult, stressful and sometimes insecure conditions.

Who are we?

The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) and Danish Demining Group (DDG) is a humanitarian, non-governmental, non-profit organization founded in 1956 that works in more than 30 countries through-out the world, including South Sudan. DRC/DDG fulfills its mandate by providing direct assistance to conflict-affected populations, including refugees, internally displaced people and host communities. Under its mandate, the organization focuses on emergency humanitarian response, rehabilitation, post-conflict recovery and humanitarian mine-action.

Responsibilities

  • Produce structured work plan for each emergency deployments;
  • Supervise and provide capacity building trainings to the national mobile protection and other sector response team;
  • Lead deployment team in provision of Provide guidance during assessment and emergency response;
  • Provide regular updates on ongoing missions to the Mobile response coordinator and the protection technical coordinator;
  • Ensure synergy between protection and other sectors response at the field level but also across DRC area programs throughout the country.
  • In collaboration with the Mobile response coordinator and Safety adviser, closely monitor the situation and development in population movements, security context, accessibility constraints, and natural or environmental phenomena;
  • Closely work with the Mobile Response
  • Coordinator and safety adviser in planning and implementing appropriate safety measures that safeguard DRC team and assets during deployment;
  • Ensure compliance with DRC and international policy, procedures and practices throughout emergency response activities, including adherence to Do No Harm principles;
  • Preparation of necessary logistic and financial requirements priori to any mission deployment;
  • Collaborate with the Mobile response coordinator, Protection program coordinator and with other support departments in the development of concept notes and/or proposals and budgets for ongoing and future mobile response;
  • Contribute to the strategic direction of the country Mobile response with greater focus on protection through participation in strategy planning meetings and developing strategic documents. *Budgeting,

    Qualifications

  • University degree in law, international cooperation, social sciences or social work (bachelors as a minimum)
  • Solid experience in protection program design and implementation (minimum 5 years)- including but not limited to rapid protection assessments, protection monitoring, identifying and providing assistance to Persons with Special Needs, and establishing community based protection approaches;
  • Experience in managing complex humanitarian programming. Previous experience in emergency or conflict-afflicted setting is required;
  • Solid experience in project cycle management, including proposal writing, budget management and donor reporting;
  • Experience of coordinating activities across locations;
  • Demonstrated experience in evidence-based monitoring and evaluation standards;
  • Demonstrated successful leadership experience managing a multi-disciplinary team and cross-cultural dynamics;

    Danish Refugee Council Protection Technical Coordinator Jobs in South Sudan

    Responsibilities

  • Develop DRC Protection country strategy in coordination with the DCD Programme and in consultation with South Sudan Pro-tection Cluster and support DRC field teams with local strategy development;
  • Produce guidelines on DRC strategy and its operationalization in the field for the sector managers.
  • Provide inputs to, and advocate for, mainstreaming protection in proposals and interventions; Develop and roll out protection mainstreaming strategy for DRC’s programme;
  • Maintain up to date knowledge of protection issues in South Sudan and share this information with teams and senior man-agement as appropriate; Provide high level technical advises to DRC Head of Programme and Country Director to support DRC strategic directions in terms of Protection
  • Define DRC South Sudan standards of quality, operational procedures, standard FSK tools and standard implementation plans. Ensure their implementation across all DRC PROTECTION activities in all locations;
  • Identify axes of improvement on the quality and impact of DRC Protection programming in South Sudan and develop innova-tive approaches - produce guideline to implements these improvements and innovations.
  • Identify opportunities and facilitate strategic assessments in the field in coordination with the DCD Programme, MEL Man-ager and Sector Managers in the field. Participate in assessments when required;
  • Contributing to Protection proposal development, providing strategic direction, innovative approaches in consultation with DRC Grant Managers and Sector Managers. Support the Grant Manager in the definition and description of Protection activi-ties, on the preparation of log frames with SMART indicators and on the definition of the budget.

    Qualifications

  • At least 4 years’ proven and successful track record of humanitarian experience, including in a camp setting;
  • Degree in law, social science or social work;
  • Direct experience and/or broad knowledge of themes relevant to conflict-affected or post-conflict countries;
  • Strong knowledge of protection and Sexual and Gender Based Violence (SGBV);
  • Ability to work effectively as an integral part of multi-disciplinary, multi-cultural team and to work with a wide range of counterparts, and other partners;
  • Proven coordination skills;
  • Demonstrated experience in working to tight deadlines, and managing pressure;
  • Fluency in written and spoken English is essential;
  • Self-motivated and able to work with a minimum of guidance;
  • Very strong computer skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
