Danish Refugee Council Human Resource Jobs in Kenya


Responsibilities

  • Ensure open, transparent and effective recruitment processes ensuring adherence to DRC policies;
  • Prepare advertisements for vacant positions and placement in relevant media;
  • Assist in shortlisting process of job applications;
  • Schedule, organise and participate in interviews;
  • Conduct reference checks for successful candidates;
  • Coordinate the settling of new staff through liaison with the Administration team;
  • Maintain full documentation of the recruitment process and update the recruitment tracking sheet on weekly basis.
  • Resourcing for international/regional roles and supporting countries in the recruitment process.
  • Support in recruitment and contracting of consultants.
  • Prepare staff contracts
  • Monitor staff contract’s expiry dates and liaise with relevant managers for action;
  • Monitor probation reviews; ensure probation objectives are set for new employees and probation reviews are completed on timely basis.
  • Maintain personnel files ensuring completeness and adherence to highest level of confidentiality;
  • Maintain the HR Staff list database of employee information and maintain quarterly API reports;
  • Maintain leave schedules, updating and computing leave balances on weekly basis;
  • Maintain timesheets, tracking and updating on monthly basis
  • Processing of work permits for international staff ensuring international staff has valid work documentation.
  • Provide assistance to staff and supervisors on HR issues.
  • Actively participate in departmental plans and activities;
  • Carry out any other tasks as may be assigned from time to time for smooth operation of the HR department;

    Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in Human Resource Management or Higher National Diploma in Human Resources.
  • Minimum four (4) years experience within HR environment in a similar role.
  • Previous work expereince with international NGO is an advantage.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Kenyan labour law and Immigration procedures.
  • Demonstrated ability to form effective working relationships with people at all levels of the organisation.
  • Ability to write in a clear and concise manner and to communicate effectively orally.
  • High level of integrity and able to maintain highest level of confidentiality
  • Competence in handling situations with tact and diplomacy
  • High proficiency in MS Office.
  • Must be registered with IHRM

    Danish Refugee Council Resilience Project Coordinator Jobs in Kenya

    Responsibilities

  • Coordination of the COFREP Consortium comprising of two INGOs and one LNGO;
    Spearhead and oversee the implementation of the
  • Community Flood Resilience Project (CFRP) in Kakuma
  • Supervise and provide management, leadership and technical support to the CFRP partners in Kakuma
  • Represent CFRP in Kakuma and liaise with national and county government authorities as well as international and national NGOs in Kakuma
  • Ensure CFRP visibility in Kakuma through sharing of information on CFRP work with stakeholders, attend and participate in community meetings as needed
  • Strengthen communication channels and networking with local authorities and any other stakeholders; ensure good relations are maintained
  • Review
    project progress reports with work plans and budget spending and give early recommendations and updates to Team Steering Unit (TSU) on deadlines met and burn rates
  • Regularly monitor project implementation, related expenditure, and periodic reporting
  • Ensure proper understanding and compliance to donor grant policies by all CFRP partners through constant coaching and mentoring of staff
  • Oversee administrative, human resources, logistics, and fiscal management of project operations
  • Prepare and submit progress reports and other reporting material to the Area Manager, TSU and other senior staff; assist in preparation of quarterly and bi-annual reports
  • Prepare, monitor and review CFRP partner action plans
  • Build a united and cohesive team and facilitate staff development through identification of gaps in staff performance and identification of opportunities for staff development
  • Ensure, in consultation with finance and logistics assistants – that all local expenditure is accounted for and proper records are kept of all cash movements as per DRC finance and procurement procedures
  • Ensure universal standards (CHS, Sphere) are upheld and the project meets DRC accountability framework standards

    Qualifications

  • Relevant Advanced or Bachelor degree level qualification e.g. Agriculture, Environment and Community Resilience, Agricultural Engineering, or other fields related
  • Sustainable Livelihoods and Resilience;
  • At least 5 years of work experience in at management level with extensive knowledge and experience in the areas of Drought, Flood and Livelihoods Resilience programming;
  • Proven experience in management of consortia and partnerships;
  • Excellent proven leadership, team-building, and negotiation skills;
  • Proven experience in training using participatory adult learning methodologies in dry land farming and flood management systems
  • Excellent report writing and documentation skills in English
  • Self-motivated to remain updated with new flood trends and technology, willingness to learn latest resilience techniques
  • Ability to set up systems and procedures and to ensure effective implementation;
  • Demonstrated communication and presentation skills;
  • Previous work experience with refugees and in the ASAL areas of Kenya is an added advantage;
