Mechanic

Duty Station:

This position is based in Kyakka II and will be providing support for the implementation of DRC Program. The jobs will periodic travel to the project areas.

Position and Reporting Line:

The Mechanic is responsible and reports to the Logistician and in his absence to the Project Manager.

General Objective

The Mechanic is responsible for the general repair and maintenance of the equipment assigned and to determine the technical requirements as per the set procedures.

Specific Tasks:

Maintenance/ Repairs:

  • Determine periodic equipment conditions through conducting diagnostic test/troubleshooting - inspections to identify worn and damaged parts for repairs and replacements.
  • Carry/Perform timely minor preventive maintenance schedules including checking for leakages, worn out parts on generators and servicing of generators and motorbikes
  • Correcting equipment deficiencies by removing, repairing and replacing minor assemblies/parts.
  • Verify equipment performance especially generators and motorbikes, rectify where necessary.
  • Maintain equipment servicing/repairs records and parts ordered and parts used.
  • Prepare reports on inspections and material estimates to apprise supervisors of conditions of the property and equipment and materials needed for repairs.
  • Monitor weekly generator performance to maintain system reliability and uninterrupted power supply.

    Electrical repairs/maintenance:

  • Analyze electrical circuits, wiring diagrams and drawings, and install, repair, service or replace electrical devices and systems to prevent overload
  • Inspect tests, evaluate, and update generator systems and wiring to improve reliability and to assure dependability and safety and compliance.
  • Respond to 24-hour emergency calls in cases of power interruption

    Shared Responsibilities:

  • Keep Inventory of all parts/components procured and track their usage at all
    times.
  • Overall support to the logistics sector which may include but not limited to; driving organization vehicle as may be required, store management, issuing fuel etc.

    Follow up all DRC / DDG Procedures for Security, Finance, Logistics, HR and Administration.

    · Uphold DRC’s international code of conduct.

    Any other tasks as may be assigned from time to time.

    Qualifications:

  • Minimum of Diploma in Mechanical engineering and other related programs. Bachelor’s degree is an added advantage.
