Danish Refugee Council Gender Officer Jobs in Uganda;Implement gender‑focused interventions to promote equality, women’s empowerment and active participation in decision‑making among refugees and host communities. Address social norms, support women in leadership and enhance safe, inclusive environments for women and youth engaged in agriculture and climate adaptation.

Responsibilities

Community Action & Training

  • Develop and implement community action plans addressing gender needs.

  • Organize training for women leaders on leadership and decision‑making in CSA and resource management.

  • Facilitate stakeholder meetings to support women’s access to land.

  • Coordinate community dialogues on positive masculinity, gender norms and GBV reduction.

  • Mobilize women for leadership training and participation in decision‑making spaces.

  • Disseminate information on land rights, policies and laws.

  • Conduct annual safety audits to mitigate risks for women in project activities.

  • Support women and girls to participate in international advocacy events.

    Partnerships & Capacity Support

  • Work with partners and local governments to integrate gender‑responsive leadership.

    Staff Development & Management

  • Provide technical backstopping and supervision to community structures.

  • Ensure gender‑responsive planning, implementation and reporting.

    Monitoring & Evaluation

  • Document and disseminate project successes and challenges.

  • Participate in OPM and District monitoring reviews.

  • Work with MEAL team to meet requirements.

  • Participate in learning reflections and events.

    Reporting

  • Provide project data for donor reports (monthly, quarterly, annual).

  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

  • Adhere to DRC’s Code of Conduct.

    Requirements

    Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Gender Studies,
    Social Sciences, Development Studies or related field.

    Experience

  • Minimum 3 years in gender‑focused program implementation.

  • Strong understanding of gender dynamics in rural and refugee contexts.

  • Experience facilitating community training and dialogues.

  • Experience with donor‑funded projects and INGOs.

  • Relevant work experience in Northern Uganda.

    Skills & Abilities

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and advocacy skills.

  • Sensitivity to community traditions and structures.

  • Strong analytical, negotiation and accountability skills.

  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently.

  • Proficiency in English (written and spoken).

    Desirable

  • Additional training in gender and CSA.

  • Knowledge of local languages in project districts.
