Danish Refugee Council Child Protection Project Manager Jobs in Uganda; The Child Protection (CP) Project Manager will oversee the DK Media child protection project in Rhino Camp and Imvepi refugee settlements. The role ensures high‑quality prevention and response interventions, including case management, alternative care for UASC, positive parenting, adolescent life skills, and community‑based child protection.
Drawing on knowledge of the West Nile refugee context, the CP Project Manager will deliver accountable programming that meets the needs of refugees and host communities, while fostering collaboration with government, UN agencies, partners, and community stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Project Cycle Management
Coordinate, plan, and monitor project activities per DRC PCM Guide and donor compliance.
Ensure quality implementation of prevention interventions and case management.
Implement Best Interests Procedures and alternative care for UASC.
Deliver timely narrative and financial reports.
Develop operational tools and training modules with Protection Specialist.
Lead donor reporting and update Project Management Tools.
Track performance, budgets, and compliance in Project Management Meetings.
Represent DRC in sectoral working groups.
Integrate child safeguarding principles across activities.
Accountability & Reporting
Monitor accountability initiatives and document impact.
Ensure compliance with reporting requirements and donor standards.
Partner Management & Capacity Strengthening
Conduct partner capacity assessments
and develop tailored plans.
Monitor partner performance and budget utilization.
Provide technical support on CP implementation and donor compliance.
People Management
Lead and supervise project staff, providing coaching and performance management.
Promote positive team dynamics and professional development.
Support recruitment and ensure gender/diversity balance.
Ensure staff are trained in CP principles, safeguarding, AAP, and PSEA.
Collaborate with HR teams in Arua and Kampala for evaluations.
About You
Required
Bachelor’s degree in Law, Social Work, Social Sciences, Development Studies, or related field.
Minimum 5 years’ experience in child protection programming for refugees/vulnerable communities.
At least 3 years’ people management experience and 2 years as Project Manager.
Strong knowledge of CPMS and national/global CP standards.
Experience in CP case management and referrals.
Experience supporting community‑based CP mechanisms and government structures.
Strong organizational, management, and analytical skills.
Excellent spoken and written English.
Desirable
Master’s degree in relevant field.
Knowledge of local languages in West Nile.
