Job Summary
The role is responsible for providing strategic leadership and operational oversight for plant production activities, ensuring production targets are achieved safely, efficiently, and in alignment with company objectives.
The successful candidate will oversee production planning, budget management, resource optimization, kiln operations, milling processes, packaging systems, and overall production performance within the cement manufacturing plant.
Responsibilities
Participate in the development and articulation of a production strategy for Dangote Cement Plc.
Create and manage the plant’s production, capacity, and materials requirement plan in line with DCP’s strategic objectives.
Oversee the implementation of approved production plans to ensure established targets are achieved.
Ensure production processes are implemented in line with approved procedures and operational guidelines.
Demonstrate ownership of and communicate the unit’s strategic direction and objectives to all staff.
Prepare annual production budgets based on market considerations and ensure achievement of budget targets through optimal resource utilization.
Coordinate and manage the production team to achieve daily production targets within specified quality, budget, and time requirements.
Liaise with the Maintenance department to coordinate planned shutdowns of production lines for maintenance activities.
Oversee cement kiln lining repairs, raw mill operations, cement mill operations, and cement packaging systems.
Keep abreast of developments and best practices in cement production and make recommendations for operational improvements to the Deputy Plant Director (Operations & Maintenance).
Supervise the implementation of approved recommendations and improvement initiatives.
Provide overall guidance, leadership, and strategic direction to the Production team.
Prepare and provide production reports and operational information to management
to support decision-making.
Perform any other duties assigned by the Plant Director.
Requirements
Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering.
Work Experience
Minimum of 20 years’ relevant work experience, with at least 10 years in a management position.
Skills and Behaviours
Strong knowledge of the cement industry, including local and international trends and challenges.
Sound understanding of opportunities, regulations, and legislation relating to the cement manufacturing industry.
Strong relationship management and communication skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Good supervisory, coaching, and mentoring skills.
