Dangote Group Head of Sustainability - Dangote Fertilizer Jobs in Nigeria; Oversee environmental sustainability and climate‑related initiatives across Dangote Fertiliser Limited. Ensure alignment with the Dangote Group ESG Strategy Framework, regulatory requirements, and sustainability objectives. Lead a team to develop and implement sustainability programmes, improve HSSE systems, track ESG performance, and ensure compliance with international standards. Provide strategic oversight to support Board and Executive Management in fulfilling environmental and climate commitments.

Key Responsibilities

Strategy Development & Implementation

  • Develop and implement sustainability strategy focusing on climate change mitigation, carbon reduction, and compliance with UN SDGs, TCFD, GRI, ISSB, UNGC, IFC standards.

  • Establish corporate sustainability policies aligned with best practices and regulations.

    Leadership & Team Management

  • Lead, mentor, and develop ESG professionals.

  • Provide strategic guidance to Top Management and Board members.

    Integration & Compliance

  • Embed sustainability into core business processes.

  • Monitor compliance with environmental regulations and ESG policies.

  • Foster ESG compliance culture through policies and training.

    Climate Risk & Environmental Management

  • Assess and manage environmental and climate risks (biodiversity, water, emissions).

  • Conduct climate risk and vulnerability assessments.

  • Oversee baseline emissions assessments and set Net Zero targets.

    ESG Reporting & Performance Monitoring

  • Develop GHG Data Inventory in line with ISO 14064, GHG Protocol, and IPCC standards.

  • Design ESG reporting templates, dashboards, and KPIs.

  • Lead preparation of Annual Sustainability Reports and board‑ready disclosures.

    Stakeholder Engagement & Advocacy

  • Build relationships with regulators, government agencies, and stakeholders.

  • Represent the company in external forums on sustainability and ESG matters.

    Resource Management & Special Projects

  • Oversee budgets and resource allocation for sustainability initiatives.

  • Undertake special assignments from Top Management.

    Qualifications & Requirements

    Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Sustainability, Environment, or
    related field.

  • Advanced degree preferred.

    Experience

  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in sustainability, ESG reporting, climate risk management, and corporate planning in manufacturing, energy, or industrial sectors.

  • Expertise in GRI, CDP, UNGC, IFRS S1 & S2, ISSB, and TCFD.

  • Proven track record in GHG accounting (Scope 1, 2, and material Scope 3).

  • Experience leading sustainability programmes and HSSE integration.

  • Experience engaging regulators, development partners, and boards.

    Skills & Competencies

  • Strong ESG disclosure readiness and compliance expertise.

  • Practical experience in decarbonization initiatives (low‑carbon investments, carbon capture, fleet transitions, sustainable agriculture).

  • Professional certification/training in Sustainability or ESG (e.g., CPD Reporting Certification) an advantage.
