CUE Librarian Jobs in Kenya





Duties and responsibilities will entail:

  • Developing information access aids such as indexes, annotated bibliographies, web pages, electronic pathfinders, and online tutorials

  • Sorting books, publications, and other items according to established procedure and returning them to shelves, files, or other designated storage areas

  • Locating library materials for users and instructing them on how to use reference sources and the Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC)

  • Searching standard reference materials, including online sources and the Internet, to answer patrons’ reference questions

  • Analyzing patrons’ requests to determine needed information and assisting in furnishing or locating that information

  • Responding to customer complaints and taking action as necessary

  • Advising clients on Commission standards and guidelines for library resources

  • Editing library resource evaluation reports

  • Examining proposals for completeness and overall compliance with guidelines

  • Coordinating the weeding and stock-taking of library books

  • Coordinating the processing of books and periodicals through cataloguing and classification

    Person Specifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Library and Information Science

  • Membership to a professional body and in good standing

  • Proficiency in computer applications

  • Fulfilled the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution
