CrossBoundary Investment Director – Fund for Nature Jobs in Kenya



CrossBoundary Investment Director – Fund for Nature Jobs in Kenya; The Investment Director will be a cornerstone of the investment team, taking primary ownership of deal origination, structuring, and portfolio management across target markets. Reporting directly to the Head of Fund, the role requires seasoned judgment in complex transactions, strategic fund input, and mentoring of junior team members.

Primary Responsibilities

Deal Sourcing & Pipeline Development

  • Identify, originate, and qualify investment opportunities in reforestation, blue carbon, and sustainable agriculture.

  • Build and maintain a proprietary pipeline through relationships with developers, government bodies, and intermediaries.

  • Apply rigorous screening frameworks against financial and impact criteria.

    Investment Execution & Due Diligence
  • Lead end‑to‑end investment assessments, including financial modelling, carbon methodology review, legal/regulatory analysis, and risk evaluation.

  • Structure and negotiate investment terms; prepare investment committee materials with clear recommendations.

  • Ensure investments align with portfolio return requirements, impact objectives, and risk appetite.

    Portfolio Management & Value Creation
  • Take active ownership of portfolio investments post‑close.

  • Monitor performance against KPIs, identify risks, and provide hands‑on support to investees.

  • Strengthen operational resilience, improve carbon credit issuance, and unlock follow‑on value creation.

    Strategic Partnerships
  • Cultivate partnerships with carbon credit offtakers, co‑investors, and technical/research partners.

  • Serve as senior relationship manager across the deal lifecycle.

    Investor Relations (Supporting)
  • Contribute to investor reporting with accurate, timely updates on deal progress and portfolio performance.

  • Support fundraising conversations with credible deal‑level evidence of the fund’s thesis.

    Who You Are

    Experience
  • 10+ years in investment roles, with emerging markets exposure.

  • Track record of leading investments end‑to‑end.

  • Experience in infrastructure, project finance, or private equity preferred.

  • Graduate degree in Business, Finance, Environmental Science, or related field (preferred).

  • CFA or equivalent (advantageous).

    Technical Skills
  • Strong financial modelling skills (project finance).

  • Ability to assess environmental and social safeguards, including community engagement and land tenure.

  • Familiarity with voluntary carbon markets and methodologies (advantageous).

    Relationships & Networks
  • Established network across emerging market geographies.

  • Relationships with carbon credit offtakers, project developers, and co‑investors (advantageous).

    Communication & Judgment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

  • Ability to synthesize complex situations into clear recommendations.

  • Sound commercial judgment balancing financial returns and impact objectives.

  • Language skills in French, Spanish, or Portuguese (advantageous).
