CrossBoundary Data Engineer Jobs in Kenya; CrossBoundary Access is recruiting a Data Engineer to set up data infrastructure and processes, transform raw data into actionable datasets, and support analysis for the Access team. The role applies software engineering best practices to design, build, and maintain pipelines and models, working closely with business users to deliver transparent and effective data solutions. This is Access’s first data hire, reporting to the Commercial Director.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Design and implement data extraction, transformation, and loading processes.

  • Build and manage a centralized data repository for BI and machine learning applications.

  • Utilize SQL, Python, and cloud platforms (AWS Redshift, Azure, Google Cloud) to maintain pipelines.

  • Apply data modeling principles to prepare datasets for analysis.

  • Collaborate with business users to deliver transparent and effective data solutions.

  • Ensure performance, availability, and quality of data systems through monitoring and optimization.

  • Collaborate on data governance policies to ensure compliance and security.

  • Document and communicate data architecture and processes to leadership.

    Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or professional certification in Computer Science, Data, or related field.

  • 2–4+ years’ experience in data engineering.

  • Skilled in building and maintaining ELT processes for complex data sources, including APIs.

  • Confident in applying industry‑standard data modeling principles.

  • Experience with data lake or Lakehouse architectures.

  • Highly skilled in
    SQL.

  • Skilled in data warehousing (Kimball methodology).

  • Proficient with cloud‑based data tools (Snowflake, dbt, Azure Data Factory preferred).

  • Experience applying software engineering best practices to analytics code and models.

  • Strong interest in Microsoft stack technologies.

  • Passion for learning new technologies and tools.

  • Strong presentation and communication skills across diverse audiences.

    Preferred Skills

  • Python.

  • dbt.

  • Snowflake.

  • Azure Data Factory.

  • Microsoft Azure.

  • Microsoft Dynamics.

  • Ability to build strong relationships in challenging environments.

  • Comfort with ambiguity and ability to operate effectively in changing contexts.

  • French language skills (advantageous).
