Brief on the Community Advocacy and Awareness Trust-CRAWN Trust

The Community Advocacy and Awareness Trust-CRAWN Trust is a non-profit organization registered as a Trust Corporation. CRAWN Trust was established with the aim of impacting lives and transforming communities by promoting citizen’s awareness on their rights and responsibilities and working with them towards eliminating gender-based discrimination in the social, political and economic spheres.

CRAWN Trust’s objective is to contribute to the building of a just and democratic society, founded on an informed and empowered citizenry who are drivers of transformative change.

CRAWN Trust’s vision is a Kenya where citizens enjoy their full social, economic, and political rights as enshrined in the Kenyan Constitution and in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights while the organization’s mission is to foster a values-led leadership and Governance that upholds all democratic values and the full enjoyment of social, economic, and political rights as enshrined in the Kenyan Constitution.

CRAWN Trust’s Mandate

CRAWN Trust strategic focus areas are five programmes which include Leadership and Governance, Socio-Economic Empowerment, Networking and Alliance Building, Institutional Competence and Sustainability and Information, Education and Communication.

Thematic Focus

Under CRAWN Trust thematic focus which are; leadership and governance, social economic empowerment, networking and alliance building, institutional competence and sustainability and information education and communication, CRAWN Trust is expected to document all projects under each areas. This requirements vary according to project, however there are similarities that set foundation to the consultancy

Background and Purpose of the Consultancy

CRAWN Trust seeks to create a pool of preferred service providers for consultancies on documentation of projects and its implementors.

The consultant will facilitate discussion, offer innovate data collection means that will facilitate improvement of projects, satisfy key indicators as per project, advocate for women rights and their active involvement in thematic areas mentioned above as well as highlight work of partners.

Duties and Responsibilities

The selected consultant(s)/firm(s) will be expected to:

  • Facilitate documentation of networks, organisations and collectives that are to be
    engaged or are already being engaged in projects

  • Evaluate projects at initial, mid and completion states to take into account success

  • Collate human stories from beneficiaries of projects with the guidance of specific projects key indicators.

  • Travel under the facilitation of CRAWN Trust to project implementation locations

  • Write reports on wither project inception or evaluation after completion

  • Develop tools for data collection that are easy to navigate and comprehensive

  • Organise, moderate and document virtual meetings, focus group discussion and peer to peer learning

    Deliverables

  • Report after the documentation process which will be forwarded for review to CRAWN Trust and its stakeholder with an allowance of revision

  • A detailed work plan on how to execute the task on hand.

  • Submit all raw data as received from those engaged.

    Qualifications/ Requirements / Desired Expertise

    The applicant should possess the following desired knowledge and expertise.

  • Degree in Social sciences and/or monitoring and evaluation.

  • Worked with grassroot communities in advocacy work.

  • Experience working in humanitarian sector especially women rights empowerment.

  • Proficiency with data collection tools such as menti – meter.

  • Soft skills such as conflict resolution that allow for easy data collection.

  • Understands the dynamics women rights advocacy.

    Consultancy Activity Schedule / Timeline

    The duration of the engagements will be for seven to twenty working days inclusive of the days of the stakeholder engagement meetings (where applicable), depending on the assignment.

    Expression of interest (EOI)

    The consultant/firm meeting the above requirements should submit an Expression of Interest- EOI (three pages maximum) which should include the following:

  • A capability statement or cover letter, entailing your understanding of the assignment and experience.

  • An EOI entailing a budget proposal inclusive of 5% withholding tax, in consideration of modest budget available.

  • An updated organization profile or Curriculum Vitae of the lead consultant(s)/firm who will undertake the work.

    Annexure Should Include:

  • Contact information of two organizations that have recently and preferably in the last three years contracted the consultant to carry out a similar assignment

  • Samples of past related work on documentation such as reports and digital platform analytics.
