County Government of Tharaka Nithi Senior Medical Specialist I/County Director of Health Jobs
ResponsibilitiesCoordination of complex and advanced clinical patient management in Health & Sanitation Department
Management of all Subsectors in Health & Sanitation
Coordinating training, coaching and mentoring of health personnel
Direct & Manage all health facilities/hospitals in the County
Developing intervention activities or programmes for management of deceases and conditions
Developing Implementing medical Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) and protocols
Developing training curricular and syllabi in collaboration with training institutions
Coordinating emergency response and clinical care
Managing health information systems
Carrying out health surveys and research
Monitoring the provision of forensic and medico – legal services.
Qualifications
Served as Medical Specialist I for a minimum period of five (5) years
Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (M.B. Ch. B) degree from an institution recognized by Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board
Master’s Degree in any of the following fields: Medicine, anesthesia, Cardiothoracic Surgery, Dermatology, Ear, Nose & Throat, Otorhinolaryngology, family medicine, general Surgery, Geriatrics, Internal Medicine, Microbiology, Neurosurgery, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Occupational Medicine, Ophthalmology, Orthopedic surgery Pediatrics and child health, Palliative Medicine, pathology, Plastic and reconstructive Surgery, Psychiatry, Public Health, Radiology, Health systems management, Health Economics, Health informatics, Epidemiology, Global Health Policy, Public Health Microbiology or equivalent qualification from an institution recognized by Medical Practitioners & Dentists Board
Certificate of registration by Medical Practitioners & Dentists Board
Valid practicing license from Medical Practitioners & Dentists Board
Certificate in computer Applications from a recognized institution and
Has demonstrated professional competence and managerial capability

Responsibilities
Coordinating pharmaceutical services in all county health facilities
Coordinating county medicine and therapeutics committees activities in the county health
facilities
Developing and reviewing Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) for all Pharmaceutical services in the County
Conducting research on medicine utilization in the County
Providing continuous professional development education to pharmacists in the county
Evaluating the appropriateness of the donated medical supplies
Maintaining pharmaceutical inventories in the county Health facilities
Providing medical information in preparation of patient drug management therapies
Coordinating preparation of annual work plan as related to pharmaceutical services
Qualifications
Must have served in the grade of Assistant Director/ pharmaceutical specialist II for a minimum period of three (3) years
Bachelor of Pharmacy (B. Pharm.) from an Institution recognized by Pharmacy & Poisons Board
Masters in any Specialized field of Pharmacy as recognized by Pharmacy & Poisons Board

Responsibilities
General management of all County motor vehicles
Keep day to day records of all vehicles showing full status
Assignment of vehicles to departments and drivers
Supervision of drivers and usage of vehicles
Ensure drivers put up to the expected code of ethics
In charge of vehicle maintenance, upkeep repairs and fueling
Ensuring all vehicles are insured and are in good condition at all times
Ensure all vehicles are insured and are in full compliance with motor vehicle regulations both legislative and security requirements including insurance for the vehicle and the users
Liaise with the department of transport, works and infrastructure for the maintenance of vehicles and to organize proficiency & suitability tests for drivers.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in any of the following: Public Administration Business Administration, Transport and Logistics Management or their equivalent qualification & from a recognized institution;
