County Government of Nyeri County Solicitor Jobs in Kenya


Responsibilities

  • Act as Principal Assistant to the County Attorney.

  • Handle complex litigation and ADR matters on behalf of the County Government.

  • Coordinate and manage technical units in the Office of the County Attorney.

  • Organize and oversee administrative and legal functions of the office.

  • Implement strategic plans and objectives for the legal function.

  • Oversee litigation and ADR processes for the County Government.

  • Monitor potential litigation and advise on dispute resolution.

  • Execute functions under the County Attorney’s Act.

  • Review office reports and ensure efficient record management.

  • Review legal instruments including contracts, leases, and MOUs.

  • Draft legislation and policies in consultation with departments.

  • Represent the County Attorney in meetings, seminars, negotiations, and conventions.

  • Coordinate staff training, development, and pupillage attachments.

  • Ensure compliance with governance, ethics, transparency, and integrity principles.

  • Monitor performance of external counsel representing the County Government.

  • Undertake any other duties delegated by the County Attorney.

    Requirements

  • Be a Kenyan Citizen (attach ID).

  • KCPE and KCSE Certificates (attach copies).

  • Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree.

  • Advocate of the High Court of Kenya with at least five years post-admission experience and a valid practicing certificate.

  • Certificate in Senior Management Course from Kenya School of Government.

  • Master’s degree in Law, Management, or Social Science (added advantage).

  • Knowledge of relevant laws and professional standards.

  • Meet the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya, 2010.
