County Government of Nyeri County Accountant I Jobs in Kenya



Responsibilities

  • Prepare financial statements and other books of accounts.

  • Handle revenue collection and accounting.

  • Prepare and monitor budgets.

  • Process payments and receipt vouchers.

  • Verify vouchers and committal documents in line with regulations.

  • Capture data and maintain primary records (cashbooks, ledgers, vote books, registers).

  • Prepare management reports such as imprest and expenditure returns.

  • Safeguard government records and assets.

  • Analyze below-the-line accounts and serve as cashier when deployed.

  • Arrange cash withdrawals for office use and ensure safety.

  • Provide cash liquidity analysis.

  • Ensure security of accountable documents including cheques and cheque books.

  • Ensure compliance with statutory deductions.

  • Compile and maintain a comprehensive Fixed Asset Register.

  • Implement internal controls to prevent theft, loss, or misuse of property.

  • Oversee retirement or disposal of non-viable assets.

  • Perform any other duty assigned by the supervisor.

    Requirements

  • Be a Kenyan Citizen (attach ID).

  • KCPE and KCSE Certificates (attach copies).

  • Bachelor’s degree in Commerce/Business Administration (Accounting or Finance option).

  • CPA Part III or equivalent qualification.

  • Registered member of ICPAK.

  • Relevant experience of three years and above (attach evidence).
