County Government of Kirinyaga Deputy Director Liaise and Communication Jobs in Kenya


Responsibilities

  • Identifying Government events in a specific sectoral area that require packaging for dissemination to the media and the public.
  • Preparing and organizing fora where Government policies, programmes and projects can be
    propagated and promoted.
  • Gathering Information on policies, programmes, significant events and how they impact on
    customers and disseminating the same to the public/media.
  • Ensuring proper projection of corporate image of the organization.
  • Carrying out research based on both local and international press on possible causes of negative
    publicity on Government and developing appropriate interventions.
  • Closely liaise with the Public Communications Office on cross cutting issues that require
    harmonization and dissemination centrally.
  • Liaise with the media in undertaking general public relations work, including direct question and answer sessions by Kenyans on various topical issues on behalf of CEC Members and Chief Officers.
  • Maintaining an effective and updated County website.
  • Facilitating printing of publicity materials for the County and internship to students in institutions of higher learning.
  • Monitoring implementation of Government policies, programs and directives through collection and dissemination of Information.
  • Development of communication and media strategy.
  • Management of news; co-ordination of Information services.
  • Carrying out research on local and International press on public opinion towards the Government.
  • Identifying events that require packaging and dissemination to the media.

    Qualifications

  • Seven (7) years service in Information/Public Communications sector;
  • Be a holder of a Bachelor’s Degree from a University recognized in Kenya and a post-graduate
    qualification in any of the following: Mass Communication, Public Relations, Journalism, Media
    Studies/Science or a related field.
  • A Masters degree in any of the following disciplines: Mass Communication, Communication
    Studies, Information Sciences, Public Relations, Journalism, International Relations, Social Sciences or any other approved equivalent qualifications from a recognized institution will be an added advantage;
  • Possess good oral and written communication skills in both English and Kiswahili.
  • Be of high integrity. motivated, and a team player.
  • Possess advanced computer application skills.
  • Have demonstrated professional competence and managerial capability as reflected in work
    performance and results.

    County Government of Kirinyaga Assistant Director Liaise and Communication Jobs in Kenya

    Responsibilities

  • Assisting in the development and implementation of government communication and media strategy;
  • Coordinating public communication services content development and dissemination in line with the County Governments Act, 2012;
  • Providing editorial, strategic, creative and operational support to ensure communication is both influential, informative and builds County brand reputation;
  • Drafting, editing and disseminating materials for the press;
  • Liaising with media practitioners and the public on issues of mutual concern;
  • Managing the updating of the website and social media platforms;
  • Planning and creating multi-media communication materials;
  • Initiate, develop and maintain good working relationships with media houses, reporters and editors;
  • Continuous development of communication content for social media networking platforms;
  • Undertake media monitoring and analysis and offer timely response;
  • Preparing or overseeing the preparation of a diverse range of information and communication
    products;
  • Planning and overseeing maintenance of publicly accessible information material on the government and its plans, policies, activities and achievements;
  • Assisting in the day-to-day operations in the directorate;
  • Providing procedural and technical advice to staff;
  • Mentoring and supervising junior staff;

    Qualifications

  • Be a holder of a Bachelor’s Degree from a University recognized in Kenya and a post-graduate
    qualification in any of the following: Mass Communication, Public Relations, Journalism, Media
    Studies/Science or a related field.
  • Possession of a Master’s Degree will be an added advantage.
  • Working experience as a Sub Editor in a media house will be an added advantage.
  • Have working experience of not less than 5 years preferably in Communication and/or Public
    Relations.
  • Should have good attention to detail and good relationship management skills.
  • Satisfy the requirements of Chapter six of the constitution.
  • Demonstrate understanding and commitment to the values and principles of public service as outlined in articles 10 and 232 of the Constitution of Kenya.
  • Be computer literate.

    Qualifications

  • Five (5) years’ service in Information/Public Communications sector;
  • Have a clear understanding of the working of the media and the socio-political environment in
    Kenya:
  • Possess good oral and written communication skills in both English and Kiswahili:
  • Possess advanced computer application skills.
  • Have shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.

    Qualifications

  • Be a Kenyan citizen.
  • Be a holder of at least a Bachelor’s degree in International Relations, Diplomacy, Public Relations or any other relevant field from a university recognized in Kenya.
  • A Master’s Degree in International Relations, Diplomacy, Public Relations or any other relevant
    field will be an added advantage.
  • Have relevant knowledge and experience of not less than five (5) years in a senior position in the Public Service or Private Sector in the portfolio applied for.
  • Have capacity to work under pressure to meet strict timelines.
