County Government of Kericho Chairperson of the Board Jobs in Kenya

Pursuant to Section 57 and 58 of the County Government Act 2012, the County Government of Kericho invites applicants to fill the vacancies of the position of the Chairperson, Members and the Secretary to the Kericho County Public Service Board.

Overall duties and Responsibilities

  • Establish abolish offices in the County.
  • Appoint persons to hold or act in the office of the public county offices including the Boards of Cities and Urban areas within the County and to confirm appointments.
  • Exercise disciplinary control over, and remove, persons holding or acting on those offices as provided for in this par t of the act.
  • Prepare regular reports f or submersion to County Assembly on the elocution the functions of the Board.
  • Promote in the county pubic service values and principles referred to in article 10 and 232 of the Constitution of Kenya.
  • Advise t he County Government on Human Resource Management and Development.
  • Advise County Government on implementation and monitoring of national performance management systems in counties.
  • Make recommendations to the Salaries and Remuneration Commission on behalf of the County Government, on the remuneration, pensions and gratuties for the county public service employees.

    Chairperson of the Board

    For appointment to the position of Chairperson of the Board, a candidate must

  • Hold a Bachelors degree from a university recognized in Kenya;
  • Have at least ten years relevant professional experience,five years of which should have been in a leadership position or at a top management level in the Public Service or Private Sector;
  • Possess knowledge of the organization and functions of National and County Government:
  • Demonstrate thorough understanding of National Goals, Policies and Developmental objectives including the Kenya Vision 2030;
  • Meet the requirements of Chapter Soot the Constitution on leadership and integrity.
  • Be a Kenyan citizen.

    Duties and Responsibilities
  • Chairing meetings of the Board.
  • Provide strategic leadership and policy direction for the Board.
  • Establishing and abolishing offices in the County Public Service.
  • Exercise disciplinary control over and remove persons holding or acting in these positions.
  • Promote values and principles spelled out in Articles 10 and 232 of the Constitution of Kenya in the operations of the Department.
  • Advise County Government on Human Resource Management and Development issues.
  • Make recommendations to the Salaries and Remuneration Commission on behalf of the County Government on the remuneration, pensions and gratuties or county public service employees.
  • Maintain effective collaboration and partnerships with other organs of Central and County Government among-st other duties.

    Terms of Services
  • A Chairperson and Members of the County Public Service Board will serve for a non-renewable term of six years and may serve on a part time basis.
  • The Secretary to the Board shall serve for a non-renewable term of six years.
  • NB: Applicants must meet values and principles set out in Article 10 and 232 of the Constitution of Kenya and must attach clearance from:
  • Higher Education Loans Board (HEW)
  • Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA)
  • Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commnsion (EACC)
  • Credit Reference Bureau (CRB)
  • Certificate of Good Conduct (CID)
