County Government of Kakamega Head of Press Unit Jobs in Kenya


Pursuant to the Constitution of Kenya (2010) and the County Government Act No. 17 of 2012, the County Government of Kakamega invites applications from suitably qualified persons to fill the following vacant positions:-

Duties and Responsibilities:-

  • Providing overall strategic leadership and direction to the Unit;
  • Developing a communication policy and strategic communication plan for the County;
  • Developing a framework for media monitoring, liaison and interdependent working relationship with representatives of independent media Houses;
  • Ensuring proper equipping of the Unit to maximize on presence in internal, regional and national media channels as well as on digital platforms;
  • Drafting speeches for H.E. the Governor and ensuring that his programmes are implemented
    smoothly in liaison with the County Secretary and the Chief of Staff;
  • Ensuring that H.E. the Governor is adequately, consistently and extensively covered in major news media outlets at all times; and
  • Any other lawful duties that may be assigned from time to time.

    Requirements for Appointment:-

    For appointment to this position, one must;

  • Be a Kenyan citizen;
  • Have a Masters degree in a relevant field from a recognized University;
  • Have a Bachelors degree in Journalism and Mass Communication, International Relations, Public Relations, Media Studies or any other relevant fieldfrom a recognized University;
  • Have a Certificate in Senior Management Course lasting not less than four (4) weeks or its equivalent from a recognized institution;
  • Certificate in Computer Applications from a recognized institution:
  • Certificate in digital photography and video editing will be added advantage;
  • Have eight (8) years relevant working experience, three (3) of which must
    have been at a senior managerial level;and
  • Meet the requirements of Articles 10, 232 and Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya, 2010.

    Terms of Service:

  • Renewable contract based on agreed performance levels.
