County Government of Bomet Director / Legal Services Jobs in Kenya


The County Government of Bomet through the Public Service Board wishes to recruit competent and qualified persons to fill the following vacant positions: -

Responsibilities

Reporting to the County Attorney, he/she will be responsible for: -

  • Coordinating and facilitating research on legal issue to inform the advice provided by the legal department
  • Ensuring compliance with national, regional and international legal documents /instruments
  • Ensuring implementation and realization of strategic plans and objectives in respect of the legal function
  • Undertaking policy research and formulate policy briefs to inform county executive in decision making.
  • Advising on civil and criminal litigation to which the County Government is a party or has an interest
  • Analyzing research data and compiling reports to inform management in decision making.
  • Developing proposals for reform on emerging legal issues
  • Ensuring compliance with principles and values of good governance, human rights, transparency, accountability, ethics
    and integrity.
  • Providing legal guidance and facilitate the necessary gazettement.
  • Drafting contracts, lease agreements and memorandum of understanding between the county government and its collaborators.
  • Articulating county position in meetings, seminars, negotiations and conventions.
  • Facilitating public participation and consultative meetings in the development of policies and laws.

    Requirements

  • A Bachelor of Laws degree (LLB) from a recognized university.
  • A Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Studies recognized by the Council of Legal Education.
  • Masters in Law will be an added advantage
  • Must
    be an advocate of the High Court of Kenya with a current practicing certificate.
  • Four (4) years’ experience at a senior management level in the legal field either in the public service or private sector or be a practicing advocate with similar experience.
  • Demonstrate administrative and professional competence in work performance at that level.
  • Has a certificate in legislative drafting
  • Knowledge in records of relevant law and professional standards.
  • Negotiation skills
  • Ability to build and lead cohesive teams

    Terms of Service:

  • Three (3) Year Contract
