  • The Council of Legal Education herein referred as ‘Council’ is established by the Legal Education Act, No. 27 of 2012 Laws of Kenya. The core functions of the Council of Legal Education are to regulate legal education and training, license and supervise legal education providers; conduct the ATP Examination and to advice the Government on matters relating to legal education and training.

  • In order to deliver its mandate, Council wishes to competitively recruit full time high caliber officers to the following positions to be based in Nairobi, Kenya.

    Overall purpose of the job:

  • The jobhalder ensures the examinatian is cenducted in a credible and verifiable manner, maintaining highest standards through overseeing the development of quality test items by ensuring integrity and security of all processes.

    Key Responsibilities

    The duties will entail:

  • Identify risks that relate to test: development and propase mitigation measure;

  • Review of test development policies and guidelines;

  • Supervise examination service providers and the staff under him/her:

  • Collate data for preparation of annual budget estimates and procurement plans;

  • Participate in coordinating test development activities

  • Participate in development Tables of Specifications for test papers;

  • Prepare materials for induction of setters and moderators;

  • Drafting departmental work plans, procurement plans, and budgets;

  • Compiting examination feedback reparts:

  • Ensuring security and confidentiality of all examination materials;

  • Verify payment claim for contracted professionals and recommend for payment;

  • Assist in the processing
    and packaging of examination papers;

  • Ensure contracted professional are available when required;

  • Research on emerging issttes on legal education assessment;

  • Propose policy and/or regulations review.

  • Participate in development of departmental budget estimates, procurement plans and work
    plans;

  • Consolidate data required to facilitate payment of Examination services providers.

    Person Specifications

    For appointment to this grade, a candidate must:

  • Have Bachelor’s Degree in Law from a recognized institution:

  • Have a minimum of four (4) years relevant working experience;

  • Have attended a Supervisory Course lasting not less than two (2) weeks from a recognized
    institution;

  • Be proficient in computer applications;

  • Shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results; and

  • Fulfill the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution;
