Overall purpose of the job; Reports to Senior Human Resources and Administration Officer.

Under the direction and supervision of Senior Human Resource Administration Officer, the Human Resource Assistant will provide administrative support in maintaining the office infrastructure and processes; implementing procedures related to human resources and administration.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares employee files, assuring timeliness, accuracy, completeness, compliance and confidentiality;
  • Assists in new employee orientations, ongoing employee meetings, and training sessions;
  • Compose correspondence, documents, forms, and reports; related to human resource and administration;
  • Processing, monitoring employee leave records and ensuring timely reports;
  • Prepare documents to be used by Human Resource Committees’;
  • Maintenance of a good filing system;
  • Assisting in payroll and benefits administration;
  • Assisting in updating human resource records in an accurate and timely manner;
  • Drafting correspondences in the Human Resource Office;
  • Liaising with the insurance, pension, medical providers;
  • Assist in preparation of budget and procurement plans;
  • Assist in management of employee reward system, welfare and wellness programs;
  • Receive and dispatch documents;
  • Requisition of items needed by the Department;
  • Ensuring high standards of office cleanliness, sanitary hygiene, health and safety and security in the Council;
  • Ensuring timely bill settlement and overseeing the use of utility bills; telephones, water,
    and electricity; and
  • Conduct human resource and administration assignments as may be assigned by the Senior Human Resources and Administration Officer.

    Qualifications
  • Professional Higher Diploma in Human Resources Management;
  • Relevant Degree will be an added advantage;
  • Practical knowledge of labour laws and statutory returns;
  • Has Minimum three (3) years working relevant work experience in the public or private institution; and
  • Computer literacy and familiarity with the human resources information systems.
