Primary Responsibilities

  • Brainstorming with creative teams, including writers and creative strategists to develop solutions for clients, as well as contributing to the development of in-house content, formats and properties.

  • Engaging in the development and production of creative content, including but not limited to website and social media content, event coverage, adverts, scripted shorts or mini-series, documentaries or feature length films; on time and on budget.

  • Processing briefs to grasp production / creative team’s needs and specifications.

  • Organising briefs into manageable workflows to facilitate seamless editing and timely delivery of the most basic, to the most complex, post production projects.

  • Creating captivating story-telling footage of the highest standard.

  • Creating motion graphics and basic animation.

  • Strong colour correction and, working with sound engineers, audio balancing.

  • Creating compelling finished video content for broadcast, social and web delivery.

  • Editing of all forms of short and long form video content from “rushes” to final cut.

  • Interacting with the creative strategists, content editors, writers, videographers and sound recordists, to ensure high quality presentation of the final product.

  • Managing the postproduction process and workflows from footage ingest to final delivery.

  • Developing, managing and overseeing an efficient quality control process and the Associate Producers and / or quality control staff.

  • Working with producer/director to incorporate feedback and provide creative solutions.

  • Working on multiple projects with overlapping deadlines.

  • Ensuring logical sequencing and smooth running of edits.

  • Reviewing shooting scripts and raw materials to create a shot decision list based on scenes’ value and contribution to continuity.

  • Overseeing the orderly archiving of raw and edited footage, and management of the visual content library, including maintaining backups of all digital assets.

  • Consulting with stakeholders from pre-production to the post-production project phase.

  • Continuously researching and implement new editing techniques, technologies and industry best practices to maximise efficiency.

  • Keeping up-to-date with new trends, latest and future industry software and tools and the most appropriate techniques to satisfy the needs of the company.

  • Advising on studio/software or production upgrades where necessary in order to optimise output quality.

  • Participating in internal and external communications which may include pitch, email, group chats, correspondence, phone calls and meetings.

  • Undertaking any necessary duties to ensure a first-class service is provided always.

  • Being an ambassador for the business always.

    Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Qualification in Film Studies, Cinematography or related field and/or minimum of 2 years’ previous experience in a similar role.

  • Proven work experience as a video editor.Solid experience with digital technology and editing software and suites (e.g. Avid Media Composer, Lightworks, Premiere, After Effects and Final Cut)

  • Provide a portfolio of professional work that demonstrates consistent, high-quality, editing skills.

  • Basic working knowledge of camera operation, photography, videography, lighting and other aspects of production preferred.

  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.

  • Competent Internet, email and Google applications user.

  • Sound knowledge of the creative, experiential, production within Nigeria.

  • Able to manage own time and prioritise work to ensure deadlines are met and targets achieved, and take personal responsibility for own work & actions.

  • Able to work within a secure and confidential environment, maintain confidentiality and demonstrate tact and diplomacy at all times.Able to work accurately with excellent attention to detail at all times and maintain the highest quality output

  • Capable of mentoring and training junior editors and other junior team members.
